WWE made a significant announcement during the 2026 Backlash premium live event (PLE): AAA TripleMania 34 will take place over two nights. Night one will be held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Friday, September 11th, and night two will take place at Arena CDMX in Mexico City, Mexico, on Sunday, September 13th.
According to WrestleVotes on Fightful Select, the original plan was for the event to be a one-night show. However, the decision to split it into two nights was made to bring night one to Las Vegas, coinciding with TKO’s Zuffa Boxing event on Saturday, September 12th. The goal is to attract the attention of network executives who will be in town, thereby making a good impression on potential TV partners. TKO is reportedly pleased with how the AAA launch has gone but seeks a more permanent TV home beyond YouTube, and showcasing the show to industry sports executives could help achieve that.
The report also noted that the WWE production staff will have a heavy workload that weekend. They will be managing SmackDown on Friday in Mexico City; AAA TripleMania 34 Night One in Las Vegas; Zuffa Boxing on Saturday in Las Vegas; AAA TripleMania 34 Night Two in Mexico City on Sunday; and RAW on Monday in Mexico City.
