Following the announcement that Jeff Cobb will be departing New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) and vacating the IWGP Tag Team Championships, the company has confirmed how the vacant titles will be decided.
NJPW revealed that the IWGP Tag Team Titles will be up for grabs at the upcoming Wrestling Redzone event, scheduled for Saturday, April 26th, in Hiroshima. In the match, Cobbโs now-former tag team partner Callum Newman will team up with United Empire stablemate Great-O-Khan to take on the veteran duo BishamonโHirooki Goto and YOSHI-HASHI.
The title match comes on the heels of Cobbโs decision to leave the company, with his final NJPW appearance set for April 19th at Korakuen Hall in a singles bout against Hiroshi Tanahashi. NJPW thanked Cobb for his contributions and wished him well in his future endeavors.
Bishamon, one of the most decorated tag teams in recent NJPW history, will look to reclaim the gold, while the newly formed Newman and O-Khan pairing seeks to establish themselves as a force in the division.
