Tony Khan Responds To Britt Baker Exit Rumors

Recent reports surrounding Britt Baker’s AEW status have caused a stir online, with conflicting claims about whether the former AEW Women’s World Champion is actively seeking to leave the company. The rumor mill kicked off last week when Bodyslam.net reported that Baker was “actively seeking to part ways with AEW.” However, Fightful.com countered the report, stating that every source they contacted denied those claims.

During a media call promoting AEW All In: Texas, AEW President Tony Khan addressed the speculation directly when asked about Baker’s current role and any potential talks of departure.

“I’ve never had a conversation about Britt departing AEW,” Khan stated. “I like Britt a lot.”

Khan went on to compare the structure of AEW’s roster to team sports, emphasizing the importance of managing limited screen time across a deep talent pool.

“On a baseball team, you use nine players at a time. In the NFL, you can put 11 in at a time… Pro wrestling is unique because you can use a different number of people, but there are still only so many slots to fit into a show. We haven’t used everybody, and there are some really talented people on our bench that we can call in that would be a great part of the show.”

Using Britt Baker as a specific example, Khan reiterated his support and hinted that her absence from television doesn’t mean she’s out of the picture.

“Britt is a great example of somebody that is very talented and we could utilize in AEW with the right situation and at the right time,” he said. “Just like in pro sports, when you have really talented people that aren’t necessarily starting every game — that doesn’t mean they won’t be starting in the future. It makes sense for me to look at the AEW roster like a sports team and try to manage the minutes and rotation.”

While Baker hasn’t been featured on AEW programming in recent weeks, Khan’s comments suggest that she remains an integral part of the roster — simply waiting for the right creative moment to step back into the spotlight.
