This coming Saturday marks a massive day for wrestling fans worldwide, with AEW All In: Texas โ the companyโs biggest show of the year โ set to take place in front of a packed stadium. But AEW wonโt be alone in commanding the spotlight.
WWE is stacking the deck with three major events on the same weekend: NXT Great American Bash, Saturday Nightโs Main Event, and the highly anticipated Evolution 2 all take place across the same 48-hour span.
While some fans initially assumed this scheduling clash was coincidental or a one-off, a new report suggests itโs part of a broader, intentional strategy.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan Alvarez addressed the growing speculation and confirmed that WWEโs counterprogramming tactics are far from over.
โI was told that if you think WWE learned something or maybe they decided [counterprogramming isnโt a good idea]โฆ no, weโve got more coming,โ Alvarez said. โAt any time, youโre gonna hear about the next WWE battle vs AEW, the next counterprogramming attempt. Weโll be hearing about that fairly soon.โ
The move signals a potential return to the kind of head-to-head rivalry fans saw during the Wednesday Night War between AEW Dynamite and WWE NXT from 2019 to 2021 โ a period that reignited the competitive spirit of the industry.
Now operating under the TKO Group Holdings banner, WWE appears more aggressive than ever in maintaining market share, even if it means directly challenging AEWโs biggest shows.
Looking ahead, the next scheduling conflict could arrive as soon as Labor Day weekend. AEW traditionally runs All Out during that time, and this yearโs edition is expected to return to Chicago. Meanwhile, WWE will counter with Bash in Berlin, a premium live event emanating from Germany, marking another packed weekend where fans may be forced to choose sides โ or double-screen.
Whether you’re Team WWE, Team AEW, or just here for the action, the competition is heating up โ and wrestling fans everywhere are reaping the benefits.
