WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry recently spoke with Sportskeeda about a variety of topics, including his admiration for Oba Femi.
Henry expressed that watching Femi makes him wish he were healthy and young enough to come out of retirement for another singles match. While he assured fans that he has no plans to return to the ring, the hypothetical challenge posed by Femi does intrigue him.
Henry said, “If I was at 100% healthy, maybe 10 years younger, hell I would have loved to come out of retirement and fight Oba Femi. He’s the only one that’s kinda made me feel like ‘Oh man, that would be a challenge.’”
On how he previously considered wrestling Nick Aldis when Aldis was NWA World Champion in 2019:
“No not at all. I thought about wrestling Nick Aldis when he was NWA Champion in [20]19. But I decided on not doing it. I retired–I retired. I feel like I had done everything there was to do. I got old and the last thing–I was already hurt. I had problems with my back and my legs and I just wanted to get away from being in the ring,”
Henry’s in-ring career came to an end in 2017. He made a brief appearance in the 2018 Royal Rumble but did not pursue a full-time return or a singles comeback afterward. From 2021 to 2024, he worked with AEW as part of the commentary team and as a coach. In 2025, he returned to WWE. Recently, Femi’s run with WWE has caught the attention of the 55-year-old Henry.
