WWE is reportedly planning to hold more house show-style events around the same time as AEW pay-per-views, while the company’s expanding Wednesday night programming has also raised questions about the future of EVOLVE.
According to Bryan Alvarez of F4WOnline.com, WWE’s upcoming event airing opposite AEW Dynamite is not expected to be an isolated occurrence. Alvarez reported that WWE plans to hold additional house show-type events coinciding with AEW pay-per-views in the future, although the timing, locations and methods of broadcasting them could vary depending on how the upcoming events perform.
WWE’s Worlds Collide event was scheduled in the Chicago area around the same time as AEW All Out. Rather than airing live, however, Worlds Collide is set to stream on YouTube on Wednesday, September 30 at 7 PM ET/4 PM PT, putting it opposite AEW programming that evening.
The development comes as WWE is also preparing to move Main Event to Rumble as part of a new long-term distribution agreement.
Beginning October 14, WWE Main Event will stream exclusively on Rumble every Wednesday at 8 PM ET/5 PM PT, placing the weekly show directly opposite AEW Dynamite.
That move has reportedly generated questions within both WWE and AEW about what will happen with EVOLVE, which currently streams Wednesdays at 8 PM ET on Tubi.
According to Fightful, there have been a significant number of inquiries within both companies regarding EVOLVE’s status following the announcement of Main Event’s new Wednesday time slot.
For the time being, however, EVOLVE does not appear to be immediately disappearing. Alvarez noted that WWE has enough taped EVOLVE material to continue airing the show through February 2027.
It remains unclear what WWE ultimately plans to do with EVOLVE once that material runs out, particularly with Main Event occupying the same Wednesday night time slot.
Meanwhile, Alvarez’s reporting indicates that WWE could continue experimenting with additional events around AEW’s major shows, with the company’s approach potentially being influenced by how the upcoming broadcasts perform.
