AEW Star Reacts To Fan Calling For His TV Return

AEW star Ortiz has broken his silence regarding his current status with the company and a potential return to television, following a long injury layoff that has kept him off AEW programming for most of 2024.

Ortiz last competed on the January 20, 2024 episode of AEW Collision, where he teamed with longtime ally Eddie Kingston in a hard-hitting tag match against Bryan Danielson and Claudio Castagnoli. Unfortunately, Ortiz suffered a torn pectoral muscle during the bout — an injury that required surgery and sidelined him for several months.

After completing a lengthy rehabilitation, Ortiz made his in-ring return on the independent scene in March 2025, working matches for a number of promotions. While he has been medically cleared to compete, he has yet to reappear on AEW Dynamite, Rampage, or Collision.

The situation recently sparked fan discussion on social media. One user took to X (formerly Twitter), tagging AEW President Tony Khan and calling for Ortiz to be brought back into the fold. The post caught Ortiz’s attention, and the AEW veteran responded with a simple but telling message:

“That would be cool….”

Though brief, the comment indicates that Ortiz is open — and perhaps eager — to resume his role on AEW programming. However, as of now, there has been no official update from AEW on when or if Ortiz will return to active storylines.

With the AEW roster constantly evolving and major shows like All In: Texas approaching, fans will be keeping a close eye on whether Ortiz is reintroduced in the months ahead.
