Backstage Latest on W. Morrissey and AEW

It is expected that W. Morrissey will make his return to AEW Dynamite next week.

Morrissey made his return to the company during the All Out go-home edition of AEW Dynamite that took place Wednesday night, as PWMania.com previously reported. He interrupted The Wingmen, who were venting their frustration over not being able to appear on television this week. After destroying the stable with big boots and chokeslams, Morrissey was approached by Stokely Hathaway, who appeared to be interested in hiring the big man. The segment concluded with Peter Avalon delivering a massive chokeslam in the center of the ring.

In an update, a new report from Fightful Select notes that Morrissey may appear on Dynamite in Buffalo, which will air the next week, but there is no information available about what he will be doing on the show at this time.

There is also no information available at this time regarding whether or not AEW will give Morrissey a contract. Morrissey’s time with Impact Wrestling came to an end during the tapings on May 13. At the time, Impact officials were informed that he would be moving on, but it was unclear to them whether he would join AEW or WWE.

Morrissey made his debut in AEW on the May 4 episode of Dynamite, but he was unsuccessful in his challenge to AEW TNT Champion Wardlow. After that appearance, it was reported that Morrissey had caught the attention of WWE officials and that they were at least somewhat interested in having him back. Morrissey began his career in professional wrestling with WWE in 2011 as a member of the FCW developmental brand. He eventually made it to the WWE’s main roster and was let go in 2018.

At the time of this writing, Morrissey has not made any public comments concerning his return to AEW. He has been relatively silent on social media since April.
