Despite being billed as the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions, The Usos have always been the Raw and SmackDown Tag Team Champions. The same is true for WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns, who holds both the WWE Title and the Universal Championship.

WWE has announced that The Usos will defend their Raw Tag Team Championships against Dominik Mysterio and Damien Priest on Monday’s Raw 30. This surprised fans because The Usos usually defended the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Titles.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported in the most recent issue that having The Usos defend the titles separately again is a request from Paul “Triple H” Levesque.

“The idea right now on the tag team front is that there are two sets of belts. The Usos are champions, but the Raw and Smackdown belts are different. This is a new Paul Levesque move and it does allow the Usos to lose one set of belts and keep the other. It was explained to me that the hope is it makes fans think it’s more likely somebody beats them for one set of belts,” according to Meltzer.

The Usos defeated K-Bro (Randy Orton & Matt Riddle) on WWE SmackDown in a Winners Take All Match in May 2022.
