Big Damo Makes His AEW Debut on Rampage, Latest on His AEW Status

Former WWE Superstar Killian Dain (Big Damo) made his AEW debut on this week’s edition of Rampage episode, which was taped earlier this week from Houston’s Fertitta Center.

AEW announced Shawn Spears will wrestle “A Giant” on this week’s show, keeping up his “Giant Killer” gimmick and preparing for next week’s Steel Cage encounter with Wardlow, according to AEW. Spears’ opponent was revealed to be Damo.

Spears defeated Damo despite a hard-hitting match. After the match,  Spears gave a heel promo, claiming to be the Giant Killer and stating that he is ready for Wednesday’s Steel Cage bout with Wardlow on Double Or Nothing, which will include MJF as the special guest referee.

Damo thanked AEW President, CEO, General Manager, and Head Of Creative Tony Khan, the fans, and the AEW staff on Twitter after the bout aired.

“Thanks everyone for the crazy response! Also big thanks to @TonyKhan and the incredible team @AEW for having me on #AEWRampage,” he wrote.

Damo was released from his WWE contract on June 25 of last year, and is married to WWE Superstar Nikki A.S.H. He has been with WWE since June 2016.

Since leaving WWE last year, Damo has worked for several American and international pro wrestling promotions, including OTT, RevPro, DEFY, NJPW Strong, Black Label Pro, PROGRESS, and CYN, among others. He defeated Jamie Stanley and Joey Conway at Control Your Narrative events earlier this month, and teamed up with Alexander Wolfe (aka Axel Tischer) at PROGRESS Chapter 133 last month to defeat Joe Hendry and Adam Maxted. He lost to Tomohiro Ishii at the NJPW Strong Mutiny taping in April and was also defeated by MLW World Tag Team Champion Calvin Tankman at WrestleCon’s USA vs. The World event during WrestleMania 38 Weekend. Damo picked up victory over John Skyler at NJPW Strong’s Strong Style Evolved taping in March. During WrestleMania 38 Weekend, he lost to MLW World Tag Team Champion Calvin Tankman at WrestleCon’s USA vs. The World event, won over John Skyler at NJPW Strong’s Strong Style Evolved tape in March, and lost to Eddie Kingston at DEFY’s Defyant Nights event in March.

There’s no word yet on whether AEW is interested in signing Damo to a contract, but we’ll keep you posted.
