On Monday morning, it was revealed that the upcoming NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 18 event will feature the debut of a new championship.
The event will feature a three-way match between Jon Moxley, Will Ospreay, and David Finlay, with the winner determining the inaugural IWGP Global Heavyweight Champion. The title will replace the now-defunct IWGP United States/United Kingdom Heavyweight Championship, which was eliminated after Power Struggle when Finlay destroyed Ospreay’s title belts.
At the show, IWGP Tag Team Champions and World Tag League 2023 winners Hirooki Goto and YOSHI-HASHI will face NJPW Strong Openweight Tag Team Champions Hikuleo and El Phantasmo in a double Tag Team Title match.
The event is scheduled for Thursday, January 4 at the Tokyo Dome. It will stream live on NJPW World at 2:30 a.m. Eastern time.
