When AEW President Tony Khan launched the company in 2019, Kenny Omega and Jon Moxley were two of the biggest stars to sign. Moxley, in fact, made his promotional debut at Double or Nothing by attacking Omega, sparking their feud.
Fast forward to now, and they’re feuding again, this time inside a steel cage on AEW Dynamite this Wednesday night.
Omega discussed his feud with Moxley while speaking with Sports Illustrated to promote it.
“If I’m being honest, the MVP of AEW hasn’t been me,” Omega told SI. “It’s Jon Moxley. For AEW, Jon’s been the one. He’s been at almost every show. He’s bled at almost every show. There is no one higher on the blood-giving list. Maybe that’s what makes this feud so interesting. It’s someone with the notoriety from Japan against someone who was a top player from WWE. And Jon hasn’t stopped working. I was injured, but now that I’m healed up, it’s beautiful that we can restart the song and dance between Kenny Omega and Jon Moxley.”
Omega is a member of The Elite, while Moxley is a member of the Blackpool Combat Club, which is at the core of their most recent chapter. This will be the fourth time they wrestle each other in a one-on-one match, with Omega currently holding a 2-1 advantage.
The show will feature AEW International Champion Orange Cassidy vs. Daniel Garcia, AEW Trios Champion The House of Black vs. Bandido and Best Friends, Anna Jay AS vs. Julia Hart, and more.
