WWE Hall of Famer โThe Million Dollar Manโ Ted DiBiase recently featured on an episode of his podcast, “Everybodyโs Got a Pod.” During this episode, he talked about various topics, including his steel cage match against fellow WWE Hall of Famer Ultimate Warrior at the 1990 Wrestling Summit event held at the Tokyo Dome.
DiBiase said, โOh, it was horrible. Iโll be the first one to tell you it was horrible. Number one, weโre in Japan โ and the other thing is, in Japan Iโm already to the Japanese wrestling fan, an established star. A lot of these other guys, itโs the first time theyโre being seen live in Japan, right? And again, the Ultimate Warrior โ you know, he couldnโt wrestle, legitimately. It was extremely hard to even have or try to have a good match with him. And for that reason, we didnโt go very long.โ
On the match being short:
โThat was the thing that really pissed me off, but it was nothing I could do about itโฆ And for me, an existing star [in Japan], have to do a job for that guy and do it in seven minutes โ yeahโฆ Because he didnโt care about anybody else but himself. And I pretty much probably didnโt care to have a much longer match. Because the longer it is, the worse it would be. I donโt think he had a long match with anybody.โ
On whether things got out of hand:
โNo, because the other thing that I was, was a businessman. And pro wrestling is a business. And so when you get in the ring, youโre going to do what youโre told. And I did my best to make him look good, which is โ I donโt know. I had never seen that match replayed, and I probably donโt want to.โ
