This past Sundayโs NJPW New Japan Cup Day 3 event saw first-ever NJPW World Television Champion Zack Sabre Jr. defeat Taichi in a New Japan Cup 2024 1st Round Match. Sabre Jr. will now battle Ren Narita in the next round of the 2024 New Japan Cup tournament.
Sabre Jr. took part in a backstage interview shortly following the match and talked about a number of topics including the ongoing New Japan Cup tournament.
Sabre Jr. said, โItโs not even started for me yet. There were two things that I was really looking forward to. Sadistically, a TMDK battle between Mikey Nicholls would have been very interesting in the New Japan Cup. I faced Shane Haste in the G1. That canโt happen. The other match that I was most excited about was finally facing my Dangerous Tekkers tag team partner, still one of my closest friends in Japan, Taichi. I think that would have been an incredible bout.โ
Sabre Jr. also talked about facing Narita in the next round of the 2024 New Japan Cup tournament.
