Former WWE creative writer Freddie Prinze Jr. recently spoke on his podcast, โWrestling with Freddie,โ about a variety of professional wrestling topics including the AEW Double or Nothing Anarchy in the Arena Match.
Prinze Jr. said, โTheir Civil War storyline is their โAโ storyline. Look, Iโm following it, Iโm watching it โฆ I donโt โฆ Itโs not the best story that theyโve told.โ โI know they explained it storyline-wise but it was still a hard pill to swallow. I donโt hate it. It is what it is.โ
On Adam Copeland feuding with Malakai Black for the TNT title:
โThe one storyline that I think theyโre telling [well], old man Adam Copeland and his Cope Open, and I feel like weโre finally going to get a Malakai Black storyline that means something. And I think heโs finally going to be champion, and I think itโs freaking time [that heโs champion].โ
On the Mercedes Mone-Willow Nightingale storyline:
โI donโt want to talk about the Mercedes Mone-Willow championship match because I donโt want to say bad things. I donโt feel like itโs been done well. I feel the debut was for the Boston pop at this point, โcause thatโs where sheโs from, and then itโs like, โLetโs wait,โ what feels like three months now. Thereโs just not enough there for me.โ
On Mariah May:
โSomeone who I do think theyโre doing well with is Mariah โfreakingโ May. Iโll say this, if you judge a book by its cover, you go, โShe canโt talk, she canโt wrestle.’โ โAll of a sudden youโre watching somebody whoโs super good in there at their job. Sheโs young. To be that good already is kind of a weird thing, and makes me go, โHow did WWE miss that?โ Itโs like the Will Ospreay thing, how do you miss that?โ
