WWE Hall of Famer Rob Van Dam (RVD) recently appeared on his โ1 Of A Kindโ podcast episode. He discussed several topics, including why he doesn’t understand why fans booing fellow WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan on the RAW Netflix debut is such big news.
RVD said, โOf course, I did see video of Hulk Hoganโs part of the show on every single website and news platform that there is online. Everybody picked that up, and they still are. Why is that such big news? โPro Wrestler is booed at a wrestling event.โ I understand why itโs so hot. And I mean, Hogan, heโs controversial and quite possibly the most recognizable celebrity on the planet, so I get where thatโs hot.โ
On Hoganโs rollercoaster reputation:
โThey light him up, and they let him cool down, light him up. Lights himself up, he cools down. He goes through cycles and always seems to dig himself back out mostly, and then bury himself again. And this one, Iโm trying to figure out why everybody is so into this moment that Hulk Hogan got booed.โ
On whether fans might be overanalyzing the situation:
โI think maybe, one factor that I suspect โ but I donโt know. Everybody wants to fake-ify wrestling so much. People donโt like to feel like they donโt understand something, anything really. But they want to believe that they do have an understanding of how everything works. And I think that people โ maybe one of the reasons that itโs such a big topic is because people are thinking, โThis wasnโt their plan. WWE didnโt want people to boo him. Hulk didnโt want people to boo him. He was supposed to get big cheers, and the people doesnโt like him, so they booed him.โโ
