The NWA (National Wrestling Alliance) issued a press release to announce current NWA Mid-America Champion Jeremiah Plunkett has been added to their TV tapings on Sunday, February 2nd in Tampa.

NWA Mid-America Champ Jeremiah Plunkett Heads to TV Tapings Feb. 2 in Tampa
Jeremiah Plunkett spent 20 years waiting for his moment.
His time finally came on June 2, 2024. At the National Wrestling Alliance’s Back to the Territories event, the celebrated journeyman captured the revived NWA Mid-America title.
Held by greats across generations, Plunkett has significant shoes to fill. As Mid-America champion, he joins the ranks of “Macho Man” Randy Savage, Harley Race, Jackie Fargo, Jeff Jarrett, and many more.
Plunkett is determined to live up to the title’s legacy. For nearly seven months, he has traveled NWA territories defending the strap.
“As the first wrestler to hold this belt in 35 years, I take my job of putting this title back on the map very seriously,” Plunkett said of the championship, which has lain dormant since Jerry “The King” Lawler retired it in 1988.
“Until that time, the Mid-America title was the crown jewel of the National Wrestling Alliance’s legendary territory system,” Plunkett said. “The NWA today has a reinvigorated territory system filled with the brightest young stars in wrestling, and I’m ready to face them all!”
Plunkett’s defenses include victories over NWA-Kross Fire Wrestling’s Hunter Drake, NWA-World League Wrestling’s Leland Race (son of NWA legend Harley Race), and more. He most recently retained his title against Pro Wrestling Revenge’s Colby Carter on January 9, 2025.
The Mid-America champion is slated to appear at the February 2 NWA Powerrr tapings in Florida. Filmed in front of a television audience, the live event will emanate from Tampa’s WEDU PBS Studios.
“I can’t wait to take this Mid-America championship to Tampa,” Plunkett says. “It’s the easiest way to let everyone watching NWA Powerrr around the world see just how important this belt is to me — and exactly how far I’ll go to hold onto it!”
