Kenny Omega Responds To Rossy Ogawa Controversy

AEW star Kenny Omega has broken his silence on the ongoing controversy surrounding Rossy Ogawa, the founder of the newly launched Marigold promotion and former head of Stardom. During a recent live social media stream, Omega addressed the fat-shaming allegations involving former Stardom World Champion Utami Hayashishita, while also revisiting his own history of criticism toward Ogawa.

Referring to recent reports that Ogawa fat-shamed Hayashishita, Omega didn’t mince words.

“Yeah, that’s very odd,” Omega said, reacting to the alleged incident. He then reflected on previous backlash he received when he voiced concerns about Ogawa in the past — remarks that were met with skepticism and even hostility from some fans.

“I remember comments that I made on this chat, and people attacked me instantly,” Omega explained. “They said, ‘How dare I say anything bad about Rossy, I’m lying, I’m a liar… If I know something, I should just say what it is, because if I don’t, I’m just as bad.’”

Omega firmly rejected that logic and defended his approach.

“It doesn’t work that way. And if you think it works that way, you don’t know how life works.”

The former AEW World Champion suggested that, in time, individuals like Ogawa tend to reveal their true nature.

“Someone like Rossy does a good job of revealing himself to the world on his own,” Omega noted. “And soon enough, whether he goes full mask-off on his own or people start talking, the writing will be on the wall.”

Despite calling Ogawa a “bad person,” Omega made it clear that he does not extend that judgment to Marigold itself — the women’s wrestling promotion Ogawa now leads.

“Marigold is a net positive for the wrestling industry,” Omega said, highlighting the platform it provides for talent and referees to showcase their art. He encouraged fans to continue supporting the performers, regardless of their opinions about the promotion’s leadership.
