WWE executive Bruce Prichard has played a significant role in the company’s creative direction for several years. Since March 2019, he has served as the Executive Director of Creative Writing and Talent. However, his future with the company has come under scrutiny due to reports of a planned retirement following WrestleMania 43.

On the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer provided further insight into Prichard’s situation, revealing health concerns that might impact his ability to travel regularly for WWE. Meltzer noted that Prichard has been dealing with a neck injury dating back to 1991, and he was unaware that he had broken his neck at the time of the original injury. Meltzer mentioned that he had heard the procedure may be classified as back surgery and indicated that Prichard could require one or two major surgeries.

Despite these challenges, Meltzer stated that Prichard is expected to continue working with WWE as a consultant, though he will no longer travel regularly with the company. Meanwhile, WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels is reportedly set to succeed Prichard. Michaels currently leads NXT and serves as WWE Senior Vice President of Talent Development and Creative.
