MJF Kicks Things Off

Excalibur welcomes us to the show on commentary. He then runs down the advertised lineup for tonight’s New Year’s Smash episode. We then shoot to a video package.

MJF Kicks Things Off

When that wraps up, we then head to the parking lot earlier today as we see MJF making his arrival with the AEW World Championship around his waist. From there, we head to ringside as MJF’s music hits, bringing the new champ out to the usual mixed reaction of boos and cheers.

He introduces himself as MJF the World Champion, before quoting Kendrick Lamar in saying “f**k the Big 3, it’s just big me,” and throws the AEW World Championship out of the ring before revealing the return of his “Triple B” belt. MJF is in a good mood tonight.

Friedman says a lot of folks are mad at the champ right now, but he doesn’t care. If they think they’re on the level of the devil, they have two options: step up, or get stepped on. From now on he is no longer trotting around, he is going to sprint until everyone recognizes him as the greatest of all time.

Because he’s MJF, he’s better than you, and you know it! Before he can go any further, MJF is interrupted by Kenny Omega on the screen! Kenny says he’s closer to the end of his career than the beginning, and it got him thinking. What if he could win the title one more time?

What if MJF hadn’t beaten him years ago to be the longest-reigning AEW World Champion of all time? What if…MJF and Kenny Omega get in that ring one more time? He says that it wouldn’t be a match against The Cleaner, the Best Bout Machine, or even the Title Collector. He only needs to collect one title.

It doesn’t matter if he gets a shot next week or if he has to scrape and claw his way to it, he wants a crack at the belt. To the champ and all those in the picture, he must bid a good night (muah) and a goodbye (bang). MJF runs Kenny Omega down for not being “man enough” to say all this to his face.

As he does, the music of Hangman Adam Page and then Swerve Strickland plays. Much like Dynamite on 34th Street, we see the pair making their way toward the ring from the crowd before security rushes in to intervene. The champ mocks them by saying that wins matter in AEW, and as far as he’s concerned they’re a couple losers.

He says they need to earn their shot, and if they can, he’d be more than happy to beat both their asses. With that, he escapes the ring and heads up the ramp as Page and Swerve take their frustrations out on the security detail in the ring. This culminates with a Buckshot Lariat followed by a House Call, and both men get a microphone.

Hangman Page promises to strangle MJF with that “ugly ass belt” before taking it away from him, and Strickland says MJF better hope Page gets to him before Swerve does. May the worst men win. Samoa Joe interrupts from the screen, saying the only one who should be #1 contender is the rightful champion.

He sees the hurdles in his way, but he has an answer to that as he talks down Page putting his hands hands on HOOK…and he has given the second-generation wrestler free reign to beat down Page, and for Hobbs to take out Strickland. Page calls for Joe to send his boys.

Not just the students, though, as Hangman Page says he especially wants him to send HOOK. Swerve says they can do this with no holds barred lights out. On that note, Swerve’s entrance tune hits again to wrap up the explosive segment. The show moves on.

Backstage With The Conglomeration

From there, we shoot backstage, where we see The Conglomeration. Mark Briscoe talks about the group coming into 2026 strong, invoking the name of Ted Turner in the process. They talk about a match coming out of the Mixed Nuts Mayhem match at Worlds End.

Storm, Cassidy, and Strong will team up later tonight. The word of the day according to Briscoe is asphyxiation, because the Death Riders will choke on these nuts tonight. Toni Storm appears along with Mina Shirakawa and Luther, with the Timeless One promising her “wife” that she still loves her.

After that, she calls for Orange Cassidy to dance tonight. As everyone else walks away, Roderick Strong insists that he wants no part of this before leaving as well. On that note, the brief backstage segment wraps up and we return live inside the arena.

Mixed Tornado Trios Match
Timeless Toni Storm, Orange Cassidy & Roderick Strong vs. Marina Shafir, Claudio Castagnoli & Daniel Garcia

We hear the familiar sounds of Orange Cassidy’s theme song, and out comes the “Freshly Squeezed” one first. Also coming out are Roderick Strong and then ‘Timeless’ Toni Storm. They settle inside the ring for opening Mixed Tornado Trios action.

Their music dies down and the entrance tune for the opposition from The Death Riders hits. Out through the crowd comes the team of Claudio Castagnoli, Daniel Garcia and Marina Shafir. The two three-person teams quickly collide and this one gets officially off-and-running in a hurry.

When the smoke clears on the initial physical insanity, we see Storm and Shafir kick things off for their respective teams at the onset. Toni beats her down on The Problem with a flurry of punches on the mat and then in the corner.

Storm’s celebration is cut short when Claudio comes into the ring to send her to the outside, but Roddy comes in strong with a flurry of offense sending Castagnoli to the corner. Garcia comes in to beat down on Roderick in the corner, but he is stopped by Orange Cassidy.

Cassidy winds up for a good while before landing a punch on Daniel’s head. He backs away and Shafir slides into the ring, going for a full nelson before taking Cassidy to the mat for a two count. The Death Riders send him to the corner for a series of strikes, forcing Orange to the canvas.

On that note, the show shifts gears and settles into a mid-match commercial break as the action in our opening contest continues. When the show returns, we see Roderick Strong getting beat up in the corner by the Death Riders, before he starts fighting back out of the corner.

He lifts up Shafir for a backbreaker, but is cut off by the Riders before Storm and Cassidy come back into the ring to clear things out. The two tango as they keep Shafir and Garcia at bay. Claudio comes into the ring, but takes a double hip toss from the Timeless Orange. Storm looks for a giant swing on Claudio.

He struggles, however, as Cassidy opts for a PK on the CMLL champion instead. Toni tries again but is cut off by a boot from Garcia to big boos. He gets taken out with an Orange Punch, but Cassidy gets caught in Mother’s Milk by Shafir, until Strong pulls her by the hair to break it up.

She then lands a backbreaker. After that, Claudio comes in to send Strong away, but Storm lands some shots before Cassidy hits a spinning DDT. He tries to go for an Orange Punch but Wheeler Yuta stops him, allowing Castagnoli to land a pop-up uppercut. He follows up with the cover for the victory.

Winners: Marina Shafir, Claudio Castagnoli & Daniel Garcia

Bandido vs. The Beast Mortos

After a video package on Mercedes Mone and a commercial break, we return inside the arena to the familiar sounds of Bandido’s theme song. The ROH World Champion then emerges and makes his way to the ring for singles action in our next match of the evening.

The masked fan-favorite settles into the squared circle and his music dies down. The entrance tune for his opposition, The Beast Mortos, plays next, and out comes the big man. The bell sounds and we’re officially off-and-running with this one.

The two lock up, with Mortos getting the advantage until Bandido breaks free. He grabs his cape from the corner, and channels his inner matador to rile up The Beast…who can’t seem to fight his instinct to charge at the cape, only for the ROH World Champion to avoid the attack.

Mortos finally catches him, sending his fellow luchador out of the ring before stomping the cape and throwing it out. Bandido makes his way back into the ring, fending off the power of Mortos before pointing the finger gun his way, but The Beast takes a bite before sending him to the corner.

Mortos charges once more, but is forced to the outside by Bandido…who puts his cape on before giving his best impression of a superhero, taking flight to dive onto The Beast and send him to the floor. On that note, we shift gears and head into a mid-match commercial break as the match continues.

When the show returns, we see the action in progress. Mortos takes Bandido to the mat for a near fall before Bandido fights back. He takes the big man to the canvas before going up top for the cover, but only gets a two-count as well.

Mortos gets to his feet, hoisting Bandido onto his shoulders, but Bandido fights out of it, only to be driven down hard as The Beast gets another close two count. Both men are back to their feet as Mortos drops the ROH World Champion with a discus lariat.

He then climbs up top, but Bandido rolls out of harm’s way. He hoists Mortos up for an X Knee followed by the 21 Plex for a huge reaction from the Omaha crowd in attendance. He quickly follows that up with a cover and gets the pin for the win.

Winner: Bandido

Backstage With Bandido

We head backstage as Bandido is asked for his thoughts heading into Maximum Carnage. Bandido cuts a promo in Spanish that Brody kindly offers translation for, saying Bandido is the most wanted and is ready to become 2-Belt Bandido again…with King looking for a shot. The two pose and walk off, and we cut away.

Brody King vs. Lee Johnson

Back at ringside, Lee Johnson is standing by as we get ready for our next match. Brody King is in action as he heads to the ring, and this match gets underway with Johnson hitting a dive on the big man! King fights back, bringing Johnson back in the ring as the bell sounds.

Johnson charges at King from the corner, running right into a big lariat. Lee crawls to another corner, and this gives Brody the opening for a cannonball followed by a massive powerbomb for the pin in a quick squash match victory.

Winner: Brody King

Darby Allin Video

We cut to a video from Darby Allin, talking about his awareness for pain and what it gives him. He has unfinished business with the Death Riders, namely PAC, and he wants to finish what he started.

AEW Continental Championship Eliminator
Jon Moxley (c) vs. Josh Alexander

We return inside the arena for our next match of the evening, which is a high stakes AEW Continental Championship Eliminator bout, with reigning title-holder Jon Moxley of The Death Riders giving an opportunity at a title shot to “The Walking Weapon” Josh Alexander of The Don Callis Family. The two make their respective ring entrances, and after the formal pre-match ring introductions, the bell sounds to get this one officially off-and-running.

Alexander continues the beatdown until Jon turns it around, leading to an exchange of strikes. Mox finally gets the upper hand, sending Josh to the ropes, only for Alexander to send the champ to the mat before grabbing a hold of an ankle! Toe hold by the Walking Weapon, who stomps away at the leg for good measure before backing off.

He sends Mox to the corner, but Mox fights back for some strikes sending Alexander away. He lands a few more shots on Josh until the latter sends him crashing to the floor outside. Mox favors the leg as Alexander brings him back up, dropping him onto the apron to slam his kneecap into the hardest part of the ring.

Jon crawls to the corner looking to get a breather, but is hoisted up by Alexander into a tree of woe…and this gives Josh an opening to land a corner splash before attacking the leg some more. On that note, we shift gears and head into a mid-match commercial break as the action in this high stakes singles showdown continues.

When the show returns from the commercial timeout, we see “The Walking Weapon” is now firmly in control of the offense. He secures an ankle lock, but Mox manages to get to the ropes to force a break. The fight heads to the apron as Alexander blocks a piledriver and back body drop attempt.

Mox and Josh trade strikes on the apron now, with Alexander taking the champ to a knee as we hear that ten minutes have elapsed. Josh drops Mox onto the apron but is hurt as well as he gets back in the ring. He goes up top for a moonsault, but Mox manages to roll out of the way just in time.

Josh brings Mox to his feet before blocking a Paradigm Shift, and the two go back to trading blows. This ends with a low dropkick from Alexander, who sends Mox into the ropes, but Jon lands a cutter for a two count. Alexander breaks free of a bulldog choke for a back suplex, landing a set of shots forcing Mox to the corner.

Mox fights back with a lariat out of the corner. Both men are down as the ref beigns the count, but the champ is back on his feet looking for a Paradigm Shift. Alexander breaks free to leave the ring, but Mox catches him with a diving elbow through the ropes forcing both men to the floor. Mox favors the knee.

Mox brings Alexander back into the ring, and this allows “The Walking Weapon” to catch him by the leg before driving it into the ring post. He then locks in a figure four around the post until the ref intervenes. Josh gets back into the ring, climbing up top for a knee drop before working the leg some more until Mox goes for a bulldog choke with five minutes left. Alexander fights it, but eventually fades and goes out.

Winner: Jon Moxley

The Hurt Syndicate Set Their Sights On Jon Moxley

Once the match wraps up, we quickly learn that things here are far from over. As Jon Moxley is celebrating his victory in the ring, we see The Hurt Syndicate’s Shelton Benjamin and MVP come out and appear on the entrance stage.

Benjamin seemingly lets the leader of The Death Riders know that he is coming after him and his AEW Continental Championship. Moxley acknowledges Benjamin and then makes his usual custom exit through the crowd. The show moves on.

Backstage With The Triangle Of Madness

We shoot backstage after the post-match scene involving Mox and Benjamin wraps up. We see the Triangle of Madness as they address Kris Statlander and what happened leading to AEW Worlds End this past weekend. They say she’s all alone in her little world, and offer to make it toxic. On that note, we head into another commercial break.

AEW National Championship
Ricochet (c) vs. Jack Perry

Once the show returns, we head right down to the ringside area for our next contest, which is the first of two championship clashes scheduled for tonight’s year-end AEW Dynamite: New Year’s Smash themed show. Out comes “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry accompanied by fellow member of Jurassic Express, Luchasaurus.

Next, the reigning and defending AEW National Champion Ricochet comes out alongside The Gates of Agony. The Demand trio make their way down to the ring. Ricochet rolls inside and poses with the title. The ring announcer handles the formal pre-match ring introduction for the champion and the challenger, and then the bell sounds to get things officially off-and-running.

Ricochet seems more focused on the crowd chanting about his baldness, but Jack takes the fight to him. The champ sends Perry to the outside, where Leona stares him down before Luchasaurus steps up to keep him away. Perry gets back into the ring as Ricochet goes after him, but Perry fights back from the ropes before attempting to pull the champ’s hair to no avail.

He ends up grabbing the hair on Ricochet’s chinny chin chin for a takedown, but he’s soon sent to the outside once more as GOA take out Luchasaurus, while Ricochet hits a dive on the challenger to send him to the floor. The Demand sit on the apron and pose for the camera as the show heads into a mid-match commercial break as the action continues.

When the show returns, we see Perry starts fighting back from the corner for a German suplex on the champ. Ricochet is back on his feet, landing a Northern Lights suplex into a brainbuster for a nearfall. Perry takes the champ down for a two count of his own, heading to the corner for a knee strike, but Ricochet rolls away to stop the momentum, hanging Perry up on the ropes.

From there, he goes after the challenger, but Perry sends him to the outside for a dive before bringing the champ back in. Bishop Kaun goes after him but is kicked away, allowing Ricochet to drop Perry to the top rope, landing on his little jungle boys. Perry’s still propped up on the turnbuckle, and this allows him to catch the champ with the diving DDT for a two count.

Perry sets up for a knee strike but is grabbed by Bishop Kaun, and this allows Ricochet to land the Spirit Gun to get the victory. With the win, Ricochet is still your AEW National Champion. Once the match wraps up, we see Ricochet celebrating.

Then, Toa bring Luchasaurus back out over his shoulder, dropping him to the stage before grabbing a guardrail, and dropping it on the arm of Luchasaurus. Perry is back on his feet to see what’s happening, and this opens him up to another Spirit Gun by Ricochet. The Demand trio then beat Luchasaurus down some more and stand tall over him to end the post-match scene.

Winner and STILL AEW National Champion: Ricochet

Jon Moxley Responds To Shelton Benjamin’s Challenge

Now we shoot backstage, where we see The Death Riders. Jon Moxley speaks up first, offering a AEW Continental Championship Eliminator match to Shelton Benjamin for next week’s first AEW Dynamite of 2026. Wheeler Yuta calls out Darby Allin, and Daniel Garcia wraps it up by saying in 2026 it’s The Death Riders versus everyone.

Backstage With MJF

From there, we shoot to a different area backstage, where we see reigning AEW World Champion MJF. He addresses the potential challenge of Hangman, Swerve, Samoa Joe, and even Kenny Omega. MJF isn’t worried about any of them.

He is interrupted as Bandido and Brody King appear. King tells MJF he needs to be worried about the current holder of the Dynamite Diamond Ring, who looks to beat him for the Triple B: Bandido’s Beautiful Belt. They taunt on him before walking away, and an annoyed champ just scoffs at that before leaving.

TBS Championship
Mercedes Moné (c) vs. Willow Nightingale

It’s main event time!

In our second championship clash of the evening, the TBS Championship will be on-the-line, as “The CEO” herself, Mercedes Moné defends against former TBS Champion Willow Nightingale. Nightingale makes her way out to the ring holding one-half of the AEW Women’s World Tag-Team Championships, which she holds alongside her Babes of Wrath partner Harley Cameron. She settles inside the ring and her music dies down.

Now the theme for the reigning, defending TBS Champion hits and “The CEO” makes her way out for her scheduled title defense in the final match of the evening on this, the final AEW Dynamite of 2025. The ring announcer handles the final formal pre-match ring introductions for the champion and the challenger, and then the bell sounds to get this one officially off-and-running.

Straight out of the gate, Moné catches the challenger by surprise with a dropkick, sending her to the outside before leaving to send Nightingale into the barricade. She continues the attack, and we see the LED board cut out from the damage as the champ charges at Willow for a double knee, but to no avail as Willow dodges it, before landing a pounce sending Mercedes into the barricade.

Now she brings the champ back into the ring, but only get a two count. She sends Moné to the corner, but is rolled up for a Mercedes nearfall. Willow responds with a nearfall of her own off a backslide, before a small spear to take the champ back down for a two count. The two counter each other’s attacks before Willow is sent to the corner, where Moné turns things around until Willow stops the momentum.

She keeps the champ down before climbing the turnbuckle for a missile dropkick, sending Moné hard to the mat. Mercedes tries to get up in the corner but is caught with a cannonball, allowing Nightingale to get a two count. Moné leaves the ring for a breather, but takes a cannonball off the apron by the challenger for her troubles. Willow brings the CEO back into the ring, but is swept off her feet by the champ sending her into the ring steps.

This allows Moné to land a dropkick driving the challenger’s leg into the steps. On that note, the show shifts gears and heads into a mid-match commercial break as the high stakes main event of the evening continues. When the show returns, we see Willow catch the champ in the corner for a modified driver sending Moné to the mat. “AEW” chants from the crowd as both women stand up.

Willow lands some hard lariats before sending the champ to the corner. Mercedes fights back with a kick, but takes a pounce by the challenger sending her to the canvas hard. Death Valley Driver connects, but it’s only good for a two count for Nightingale. Moné fights back with a backstabber, but Willow lands the Babe with the Powerbomb sending her to the mat. She goes for a pin but Mercedes gets her foot on the ropes.

Willow goes up top for a moonsault, but Moné manages to roll away before going up top for a frog splash onto the knees of the challenger. The fight heads to the apron, where Willow lands a Death Valley Driver sending the champ onto the hardest part of the ring. She brings Moné back into the ring, and the champ tries to escape her grasp by heading back out. Willow goes for another cannonball off the apron, but ends up crashing onto the floor when Mercedes dodges it.

The champ lands a pair of vertical suplexes, but there will be no third Amigo here as Willow sends her into the ring apron to break free. She turns her attention to the announce table, clearing it off as she has some bad intentions in mind. She brings Moné up for a Doctor Bomb, but Moné fights back for a suplex that sends Willow crashing onto the announce table instead. Both women are down and out.

With that in mind, we see the ref begin the count. Mercedes crawls to the ring at seven, and just at the count of nine we see Willow make it back in as well. Willow gets a near-fall, but Moné counters for some elbow strikes into a Statement Maker, only for the challenger to roll her up for a two-count. Now we see a Statement Maker is finally broken by force.

Nightingale hoists her up, sending the champ into the corner. Babe with the Powerbomb is countered, and Moné gets another close two-count. Mercedes tries to go for a Money Maker, but the challenger counters into a Babe with the Powerbomb out of nowhere. She quickly follows up with the cover and gets the 1-2-3. We have a brand new TBS Champion, and she’s now the first-ever two-time TBS Champion in AEW history.

Willow Nightingale is now a double champion, as she holds the TBS Championship and is one-half of the AEW Women’s World Tag-Team Champions as part of the Babes of Wrath with Harley Cameron. Speaking of which, Cameron makes her way down to the ring along with The Conglomeration. They join Nightingale for a big show-ending celebration. Kris Statlander also comes down. Fans chant “Hug it out!” They do. The show wraps up on that note. Thanks for joining us! Happy New Year!

Winner and NEW TBS Champion: Willow Nightingale
