WWE ID recently released a new video featuring talent scout Gabe Sapolsky, who discussed various topics, including his approach to scouting prospects on the independent wrestling scene.
Sapolsky emphasized that he looks for the “IT” factor along with strong fundamentals. He mentioned that, as a fan first, he wants to see wrestlers deliver strikes and holds that make him believe in the match.
Sapolsky said, “I’m looking for those strong fundamental qualities, and then I’m for people who add character to it, who add uniqueness to it, who add personality to it. I always say, we’re not in the good wrestler business here. Being a great wrestler is part of what gets you in the door, but we are in the Superstar business. So, getting all that wrestling down, being cool, being different, that is all part of it; what really matters at the end of the day is what makes you a one-of-one after you have accomplished all that. At the end of the day, I want to put two qualities in front of the coaches at the PC: people who outwork everybody else, and people who are coachable and listen and learn.”
