WWE NXT Champion Grayson Waller appeared on the Notsam Wrestling podcast to discuss various topics, including his reasons for returning to the brand.
Waller said, “Part of the reason that I wanted to go back to NXT was because I need to remind the world who I am. I needed to remind myself first; that took the first few weeks. But now that I’m NXT champion, I know who I am; I know how good I am. So now my job is to remind the world and remind the guys on Raw, the guys on Smackdown, like, ‘Hey, you fumbled the ball. You fumbled the ball bad, and you’re going to regret it. And I’m going to make sure every single week, I put it in your face like, ‘Damn, that’s the guy right there.’”
On if he was trying to prove a point:
“Very much so. Because you’ve got two lanes. Some wrestlers will disappear, they’ll go on on Twitter; they’ll complain, they’ll moan. They might go to the dirt sheets and say say certain things. But that’s not me. What I wanted to do is, I sat there and I went, ‘Things aren’t going the way I need them to go, and how they should be going. So, I’m going to do something about it. I’m going to go out and I’m going to chase this. I’m going to make it happen for myself.’ And I think that’s exactly what I’ve done. Like, you can like me, you can hate me, but you can’t deny that the last few months I’ve completely rejuvenated my career.”
