AEW Rampage Review – May 5, 2023

Trios Match
QTV (QT Marshall, Aaron Solo & Powerhouse Hobbs) vs. Lucha Bros (Pentagon Jr & Rey Fenix) & El Hijo Del Vikingo

The match starts off with QT Marshall mocking El Hijo Del Vikingo then Vikingo responds with a springboard dropkick and a pair of enziguiris then ascends to the top rope and delivers an implosion hurricanrana. Aaron Solo & Rey Fenix tag in & they exchange chops before Solo fires off a few forearms. Fenix delivers a springboard arm drag and a kick to Solo’s head then looks to lock in a knee bar. Solo escapes and tags in Powerhouse Hobbs.

Pentagon Jr tags in on his side and delivers a crossbody off the top rope then hits his signature pose. He sets up for Fear Factor but Hobbs escapes. Pentagon manages to deliver a thrust kick but Hobbs delivers a clothesline. Fenix & Vikingo try to level Hobbs but Hobbs takes them down with a forearm and a powerbomb respectively.

He then delivers a delayed vertical suplex to Pentagon & Marshall tags in and delivers a right hand to Pentagon’s midsection on the outside then sends him colliding with the ring post as we go to a break.

After the break Hobbs tags in and delivers a clothesline to Pentagon then Solo tags in and Pentagon catches him with a sling blade. Hobbs tries to interfere but Pentagon delivers a kick to his head. QTV end up on the outside before Lucha Brothers & Vikingo level them all with tope suicidas. Vikingo then ascends to the top and hits a moonsault before Pentagon plants Fenix on top of Solo.

Fenix ends up on the apron with Solo. Solo gets Fenix back in the ring where Hobbs & Marshall are waiting for him with a splash in the corner and a pop up uppercut. Solo then delivers the diving foot stomps and goes for a pin but both Pentagon & Vikingo break the fall. Solo looks for a suplex but Fenix fights his way out.

Vikingo makes the blind tag and Marshall catches him with a right hand but Vikingo delivers a Canadian Destroyer on the apron and gets him onto a table that has been set up. He looks to fly but Harley Cameron pulls Marshall off the table. Vikingo then delivers a German suplex to Solo before Lucha Bros deliver the Double Stomp/Fear Factor combination for the win.

Winners: Lucha Bros & El Hijo Del Vikingo

After the break we go backstage to Lexy Nair is outside Chris Jericho’s dressing room. Nair says Jericho has requested time to speak and knocks on the door. Jericho asks who it is, and Nair announces it’s her. He asks if she’s alone, and Nair responds yes. Jericho then opens the door and says due to Adam Cole’s attack on Wednesday night, he is taking extra steps to make sure they won’t be in the same building.

Non Title Match
TBS Champion Jade Cargill vs. Gia Scott

Jade Cargill delivers a boot to Gia Scott’s midsection then sends her crashing into the mat then a pump kick follow by Jaded for the win.

Winner: TBS Champion Jade Cargill

Mark Briscoe vs. Preston Vance

Mark Briscoe delivers a forearm that sends Preston Vance tumbling to the outside. Vance rips up the signs that Briscoe’s kids brought to the match, and that angers Briscoe as he nails Vance with a Blockbuster off the apron then delivers a chop and grabs a chair from under the ring.

He sits Vance on it and ascends to the top before he goes flying. Vance ducks out of the way at the last second, and Briscoe is sent crashing into the chair. Vance sends Briscoe repeatedly crashing into the barricade and gloats as we go to a break.

After the break Vance locks in a Full Nelson on Briscoe but he escapes and delivers a German suplex but Vance responds with one of his own and follows it up with a rolling elbow. Briscoe hits a dropkick before the two go back and forth with forearms. Vance eventually gains the upper hand and delivers a knee to Briscoe’s midsection but Briscoe manages to deliver a lariat and a splash in the corner.

He then delivers a flatliner and goes for a pin but Vance kicks out. Briscoe then sets up for Jay Driller but Vance escapes and delivers a discus lariat. Briscoe rolls out of the ring to avoid being pinned, and Vance follows him. He tosses him back inside then grabs a chair from under the ring.

The referee catches him with a chair and Vance drops it before delivering a spear through the middle rope to Briscoe. Jose The Assistant slides a chair in the ring, but the referee catches him doing so & this allows Vance to deliver a low blow while the referee is distracted by Jose.

Vance goes for a pin but Briscoe kicks out. He sends Vance to the outside then sets up the chair in the ring and goes flying as he takes a shot at Jose then gets in the ring and delivers a high running boot then follows it up with Jay Driller for the win.

Winner: Mark Briscoe 

The Firm Deletion Match
FTW Champion Hook, The Hardys (Matt & Jeff) & Isiah Kassidy vs. The Firm (Stokely Hathaway, Ethan Page, Big Bill & Lee Moriarty) 

We see The Firm pull up at The Hardy Compound & they ask where The Hardys are and Ethan Page destroys the mailbox. Suddenly the gates open and Vanguard 1 appears with a message from Matt Hardy to welcome The Firm to their deletion. Suddenly The Firm travels through time to The Hardy Compound at night. The Hardys, Hook & Isiah Kassidy appear and begin shooting fireworks at The Firm.

The Hardys, Hook & Kassidy then begin to beat down The Firm. Big Bill levels Kassidy & Jeff Hardy but Jeff sends Bill crashing into a tree. Kassidy jumps Bill after he tosses Jeff into a tree but Bill gets him off of his back. Bill then sends Kassidy repeatedly crashing into a tree then delivers a chokeslam.

Meanwhile Matt Hardy delivers a snap suplex to Page and goes for a pin but kicks out. Matt sets up for Twist Of Fate but Page rains down right hands. Jeff hits Bill with a branch then uses a different one to lock in a modified crossface. Bill fades, and we then head over to Stokely Hathaway. Maxel & Wolfie appear in a mini car and look to run over Hathaway but Hathaway is able to roll out of the way.

Inside the ring Matt delivers a Side Effect to Page and sets up for Twist Of Fate. Page escapes and delivers a big boot. Hook then tosses Moriarty into the ring and delivers a clothesline. Matt throws Page into a set of stairs as Hathaway gets in the ring and tries jumping Hook.

Hook sees him coming and plants him as Page sets up for Twist Of Fate on the outside. Matt escapes and sends Page crashing into the ring post. Matt then gets inside the ring with Page, and Page gets him up on his shoulders. He sends him crashing through a table.

Page & Hardy continue to brawl in the ring before Bill appears and hits Matt with a chair. We head over to Hathaway taking a seat. Gothic Baby appears before him and Reby Hardy then shows up. Senor Benjamin then tases him. The rest of Matt’s kids appear and begin to beat Hathaway down. We then head back outside where Page pours gas onto The Hardys.

Kassidy appears on the nearby roof and delivers a Swanton Bomb to everyone. Hathaway is thrown in the ring by Reby. Reby then delivers a Twist Of Fate before Maxel ascends to the top and delivers a Swanton Bomb. Kassidy then gets Bill on a table outside and delivers a leg drop off a ladder set up next to it.

Page is beating down Hardy in the ring. Jeff, Kassidy & Hook join him. Page finds himself surrounded and Matt says this is all his fault. Hook delivers a suplex to him and Kassidy tosses him over to Matt. Matt tells Page they could’ve been great friends then lands a Twist Of Fate. Jeff ascends to the top and delivers a Swanton Bomb then Matt pins Page for the win.

Winners: FTW Champion Hook, The Hardys & Isiah Kassidy
