New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) has recently announced that its subsidiary, New Japan Pro-Wrestling of America Inc. (NJoA), will soon cease operations and enter liquidation, as reported by PWMania.com.
According to Bryan Alvarez from F4WOnline.com, this decision has not come as a surprise to those involved. He mentioned speaking with individuals connected to the NJPW USA dojo, which has been in operation for eight years. Some people expressed their “shock” that the closure did not happen sooner.
Overall, the sources Alvarez consulted expressed their sadness about the situation, reflecting on the many good people who have been part of the dojo, both in the past and in the present.
The NJPW U.S. dojo, located in Carson, California, was opened in 2018 and was rebranded as the NJPW Academy in 2023. It has featured notable coaches such as Katsuyori Shibata, KUSHIDA, Fred Rosser, The DKC, and Rocky Romero.
