AEW will hold its 2026 WrestleDream pay-per-view (PPV) event later tonight, October 17th, at the Addition Financial Arena in Orlando, Florida. The company has had to adjust its plans for the inaugural Clockwork Carnage Match due to injuries affecting two roster members.
Jay White suffered an undisclosed injury during the Tailgate Brawl Match at All Out and is expected to be sidelined for one to two months. Meanwhile, Christian Cage has sustained three broken ribs and a collapsed lung. These injuries have impacted the original plans involving Cage and Adam Copeland, leading to changes in the lineup for tonight’s pay-per-view.
According to the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, White was initially expected to fill the spot that has now been given to Copeland in the Clockwork Carnage Match. With Cage injured, their tag team has also been “put on hold,” making it logical for Copeland to compete in the match.
The Clockwork Carnage Match is anticipated to be the main event of WrestleDream, featuring AEW World Champion Will Ospreay, Samoa Joe, Kazuchika Okada, Ricochet, Konosuke Takeshita, Adam Copeland, Mike Bailey, and Darby Allin. The match follows a two-stage format: two randomly selected wrestlers will start, with another competitor entering every 3 minutes.
In the opening stage, a pinfall or submission will eliminate a wrestler. Once all eight participants have entered, the remaining wrestlers will enter a 15-minute scoring period. During this final stage, pinfalls and submissions will earn individual falls instead of eliminating opponents, with the wrestler who has the most falls when time expires being declared the winner.
