Sammy Guevara has come to Eddie Kingston’s defence after being in the news following an altercation backstage.
As was previously mentioned, after a Guevara promo, there was an altercation in Minneapolis that escalated to the point where Kingston confronted Guevara and things eventually became physical.
During the promo, Guevara called Kingston a “fat piece of sh**,” which caused Kingston to take offence. Kingston felt that the match would be meaningless if a “fat piece of sh**” beat him, so he took issue with Guevara’s comments. As soon as they were backstage, Kingston yelled at Guevara, who responded by smiling at him. Kingston then responded by pie-facing Guevara.
Kingston was given a two-week suspension but is expected to make his return at the Dynamite show next week. Both Kingston and Guevara have made statements regarding the current situation. Click here to read Kingston’s statement and click here to read Guevara’s statement.
Kingston was recently subjected to some body shaming on Twitter by a fan, which prompted Guevara to come to the defense of his fellow AEW star by writing the following:
“This is not cool! Leave Eddie alone. The whole thing is over. Let’s all just move on!”

Prior to the incident, AEW had intended for Kingston to win a match against Guevara at All Out and had made preparations accordingly.
