AEW’s signature Anarchy in the Arena match is returning at Double or Nothing 2025, and this year’s lineup is already generating buzz across the wrestling world. According to a new report from Fightful Select, fans can expect a chaotic, star-studded showdown with several major names locked in—and a few surprise additions still possible.
Per the report, the match is currently set to feature the following five-on-five setup:
Team Swerve:
-
Swerve Strickland
-
Willow Nightingale
-
Kenny Omega
-
Samoa Joe
-
Powerhouse Hobbs
Opposing Team:
-
The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson)
-
Jon Moxley
-
Gabe Kidd
-
Marina Shafir
Sources indicate that Katsuyori Shibata and Claudio Castagnoli are also being discussed as potential additions to either side, possibly expanding the match to six or more competitors per team, in line with AEW’s recent trend of escalating faction warfare.
The match, known for its wild, anything-goes environment and multi-location chaos, has become a staple of Double or Nothing weekends. With a mix of AEW originals, international stars, and crossover veterans involved, the bout is expected to deliver some of the weekend’s most talked-about moments.
In addition, “Speedball” Mike Bailey vs. Kazuchika Okada is reportedly set for a Continental Championship match on the same card. While their bout is expected to stand alone, Fightful noted that both could still make cameo-style appearances during the Anarchy in the Arena contest later in the night.
As for other potential surprises, HOOK and Wheeler Yuta were not specifically named in the initial match plan but could easily get involved depending on timing and storyline developments.
With Double or Nothing shaping up to be one of AEW’s most stacked events of the year, all eyes are now on how Tony Khan and company will pull the trigger on one of the promotion’s most unpredictable annual matches.
