Ricky Starks provided a positive update following an injury scare on AEW Collision.

Starks and Big Bill were facing Top Flight in an AEW Tag Team tournament quarterfinal when Darius Martin delivered a pele kick to the back of the head. This resulted in him being rolled up and not kicking out. However, because it was not the planned finish, the referee did not count the fall, and Darius won with a DDT on Starks.

They’ve advanced to the tournament’s next round, where they’ll face FTR, who defeated The Infantry to advance, while The Young Bucks will face Best Friends (Orange Cassidy and Trent Beretta) on AEW Dynamite for the first spot in the final.

Starks took to Instagram to say, I’m all good, everything checked out fine,” he wrote. “Was being precautious.” Fightful Select reports, Big Bill and Ricky Starks were originally scheduled to win the match and face FTR.

On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez discussed the situation.

Alvarez: “And this is not 100% confirmed, but we all basically heard the same story, which was that it appears to be a stinger. And did not appear to be a concussion.

Meltzer: “Starks said that he was okay on social media, from what I understand.”

Alvarez: “So hopefully, you know, a stinger, and he’s alright. Sometimes, you get them, and then a few hours later, you’re good. Certainly better than a concussion, certainly better than a serious neck injury.”
