WWE NXT Roadblock Review – March 5, 2024

Kicking off Roadblock 2024 with a video from Lexis King running down the card for tonight’s show.

Asylum Match
Dijak vs. Joe Gacy

Dijak grabs a chair while Joe Gacy grabs a fire extinguisher then both men miss one another before Dijak tosses Gacy into the side of the Steel Cage.

Dijak spots a wooden box that says Do Not Open but opts not to open it and instead hits a Death Valley Driver to Gacy.

Dijak continues wearing Gacy down and looks to open the box but Gacy rolls him up.

Dijak kicks out and Gacy sends him crashing into 3 of the sides of the cage.

He looks at the box himself but Dijak blindsides him with a clothesline and fires off several stomps.

Dijak drags the box into the center of the ring and opens it to reveal an extending joke boxing glove.

Gacy then sprays the fire extinguisher at him and sends him crashing into the mat as we go to a break.

After the break Dijak ascends to the top of the cage and connects with a moonsault.

He goes for a pin but Gacy kicks out then Dijak grabs a straitjacket from the top of the cage and looks to put it on Gacy but Gacy prevents him from doing so.

Dijak fires off right hands on Gacy’s spine and looks to put the straitjacket on him once again but Gacy fights back.

Dijak sets a door up in the corner of the ring but Gacy hits a suplex to him and sets up a table painted black with a smiley face on it.

Dijak cracks a chair across Gacy’s spine and gets the straitjacket on him then sits him on the top turnbuckle. He drags the table Gacy set up.

He looks to send Gacy crashing through it but Gacy hits a headbutt to send him crashing through it.

He follows it up with a senton off the top rope and goes for a pin but Dijak kicks out.

Gacy manages to escape the straitjacket, but Dijak runs him over with a clothesline.

He then wraps duct tape around Gacy’s eyes and grabs a kendo stick then cracks it across Gacy’s spine. Gacy low blows Dijak and sends him crashing into the mat.

He then cracks the kendo stick across Dijal’s spine several times but Dijak sends him crashing through the door and goes for a pin but Gacy kicks out.

Dijak gets Gacy up on his shoulders and looks to land Feast Your Eyes but Gacy avoids it.

Dijak then looks to land Feast Your Eyes for a 2nd time and hits it for the win.

Winner: Dijak (12:46)

We then head backstage to the locker room and see The Family meet with Luca Crusifino. Tony D’Angelo tells Crusifino has a sharp brain and isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty. He offers Crusifino a job and tells him all he has to do is follow what he says with no questions asked. Crusifino agrees.

We then head over and see Fallon Henley meet with Riley Osborne to talk about Thea Hail. Henley explains to Osborne why Hail has been acting so weird around him before Blair Davenport walks in and confronts Henley. She tells Henley she needs to keep her nose about other people’s business and says Hail isn’t Osborne’s type.

Women’s Champion Lyra Valkyria & Tatum Paxley talked about strategy ahead of their match where Valkyria said that they had a professional relationship. Valkyria promised to do anything to win the Women’s Tag Team Titles and promised to take out the will of their opponents which creeped out Valkyria.

NXT Tag Team Titles Match
The Wolf Dogs (Bron Breakker & Baron Corbin) (c) vs. Chase U (Andre Chase & Duke Hudson)

Baron Corbin & Andre Chase lock up before Corbin mocks Chase & Chase responds with a chop.

Corbin runs him over with a clothesline and clocks Duke Hudson on the apron then sends him crashing into the mat face first.

The Wolf Dogs hits a German suplex/clothesline combination and Corbin looks to hit a Gorilla Press but Chase escapes and Breakker runs him over with a clothesline.

Corbin tags back in and delivers a flapjack/gutbuster combination with Breakker.

Corbin goes for a pin but Hudson breaks the fall then he sends The Wolf Dogs crashing to the outside and helps Chase deliver a dropkick to them through the middle rope.

Chase then hits a senton off the apron as we go to a break.

After the break Corbin is wearing Chase down with a submission as Chase U rallies behind Chase.

Chase hits a boot to Corbin’s jaw and looks to tag in Hudson but Corbin prevents him from doing so. Breakker tags in and delivers a flipping cutter then tags Corbin back in.

Chase sends Breakker crashing to the outside then hits a back elbow to Corbin and sends him crashing into the ring post shoulder first.

Hudson & Breakker tag in and Hudson hits a pair of back elbows to Breakker.

He follows it up with a boot and lands the Chase U right hands on Corbin then connects with a pair of elbows on The Wolf Dogs but Corbin makes the blind tag in.

Hudson lands a sidewalk slam on Breakker and a 2nd one on Corbin then hits a shoulder to Corbin’s midsection and follows it up with a German suplex.

Chase tags in and double teams on Corbin with Hudson but Corbin delivers an arm drag to Chase into the corner as Breakker & Hudson exchange right hands on the outside.

Breakker rocks Hudson with a jumping knee and hits a flying clothesline to him off the apron and over the announce table.

Corbin clotheslines Chase over the top rope and Breakker charges at him.

Chase sends Breakker crashing into the ring steps shoulder first then ascends to the top rope and hits a crossbody.

Chase & Corbin exchange strikes in the middle of the ring before Chase lands a superkick.

Breakker tags in and Corbin hits an End Of Days then Breakker hits a spear for the win.

Winners & Still NXT Tag Team Champions: The Wolf Dogs (11:18) (STILL CHAMPIONS!!!)

Carmelo Hayes was interviewed by Kelly Kincaid backstage where he promised to become the #1 Contender tonight and make history by headlining Stand & Deliver on back 2 back years.

Shawn Spears vs. Uriah Connors

Shawn Spears whispers something into Uriah Connors’ ear then Connors hits a few strikes but Spears fires off knees on Connors’ face and follows it up with C4 for the win.

After the match Spears grabs a mic and says it takes a certain kind of man to hold up a mirror. He says most people won’t like what they see and says they will be forced to be what they are rather than what they want to be. He addresses Ridge Holland and says those words must hit close to home for him. He says Holland is lying to himself when he says he’s fighting for his family and the difference between the two of them is that he’s not ashamed of what he sees. He says Holland can’t see the same.

Holland’s music hits and he marches down to the ring. Spears keeps egging Holland on and Holland wastes no time going after Spears. He fires off stomps and right hands on him then tosses him across the ring. Spears slides the chair he was holding over to him. Officials run down to the ring and Holland tosses the chair down on the mat out of anger.

We then head backstage to Josh Briggs & Brooks Jensen. Briggs asks Jensen if he’s sure about challenging Oba Femi for the North American Title next week and Brooks assures Briggs he is. He says he took Briggs’ words to heart and is taking control of his career. Briggs wishes Brooks luck before Dijak passes Briggs and points out that he lied straight to Brooks’ face.

Kelly Kincaid interviewed NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov, where he put over both Tony D’Angelo & Carmelo Hayes ahead of their #1 Contenders Match tonight. Stacks & Luca Crusifino interrupted the interview and told Dragunov that D’Angelo would get a NXT Title shot by any means necessary.

Women’s Tag Team Titles Match
Kabuki Warriors (Kairi Sane & Asuka) (c) vs. Women’s Champion Lyra Valkyria & Tatum Paxley

Asuka & Lyra Valkyria lock up before Kairi Sane & Tatum Paxley tag in and Sane hits a strike to Paxley.

She follows it up with an open palm strike before they go back & forth landing strikes on one another.

Sane hits a hurricanrana to Paxley that sends her crashing out of the ring then looks to take a cheap shot at Valkyria on the ring.

The referee becomes distracted and Asuka delivers a sliding kick to Paxley from the apron.

Paxley rolls back inside the ring and lands an open palm strike on Asuka.

Asuka fires off kicks on Paxley’s head and tags Sane back in.

Kabuki Warriors then double team on Paxley & Sane delivers a right hand to her spine.

Valkyria becomes legal and wears Sane down before Valkyria & Paxley double team on her.

They then send Kabuki Warriors out of the ring and hits dropkicks to them both through the middle rope.

After the break Sane fires off right hands on Paxley’s spine and conches in an Ankle Lock.

Paxley escapes with an enzuigiri and tags in Valkyria & she hits a crossbody off the top rope and hits a clothesline to Sane then hits Kabuki Warriors with a springboard crossbody.

Valkyria & Paxley then send Kabuki Warriors crashing into the mat before she hits a northern lights suplex to Sane. Valkyria gets Sane up on her shoulders but Sane escapes.

Asuka tags in and hits a jumping Codebreaker before Sane levels Valkyria and they hit a running clothesline/running knee combination.

Valkyria lands an enzuigiri on Asuka and tags in Paxley then Valkyria ascends to the top rope and hits a leg drop to Asuka as Paxley holds her in place.

Valkyria then looks to land a spinning back heel kick on Sane but Asuka ducks out of the way and Valkyria accidentally hits Paxley.

Sane then hits Valkyria with a spinning back heel kick and Asuka hits a kick to the back of Paxley’s head.

Sane tags in and ascends to the top rope then hits Insane Elbow to Paxley as Asuka holds her in place for the win.

Winners & Still Women’s Tag Team Champions: Kabuki Warriors (13:14) (STILL CHAMPIONS!!!!)

After the match Roxanne Perez attacks Valkyria & Paxley then sends Valkyria crashing into adjacent ring posts shoulder first and drapes her arm through the middle rope before she stomps on it. Officials then check on Valkyria and wheel a stretcher out to ringside.

After the break we see Valkyria being loaded into an ambulance.

Fallon Henley vs. Blair Davenport

Match starts off with a lock up before Blair Davenport lands a forearm on Henley’s jaw but Henley trips Davenport and delivers a kick to the back of her head.

She then rocks her with a forearm and rolls her up but Davenport kicks out.

Davenport whips Henley into the corner then hits a jawbreaker to her using the top rope.

She then ascends to the top rope and hits a stomp to the back of Henley’s neck before she begins targeting her hand and wearing it down.

Henley delivers a kick to Davenport and connects with a back elbow then lands another forearm then lands a jawbreaker on Davenport and clotheslines her over the top rope.

Henley looks to send Davenport into the ring apron face first but Davenport sends her crashing into the ring steps shoulder first.

Sol Ruca then appears out of nowhere through the crowd and flies off the barricade.

She hits Davenport with Sol Snatcher and tosses her back in the ring. Henley then hits a running knee for the win.

Winner: Fallon Henley (3:28)

Jacy Jayne & Jasmyn Nyx scolded Andre Chase & Duke Hudson backstage before Thea Hail appeared. Hail asked Jayne if she could be her tag partner for next week but Jayne denied the offer because she would be busy.

NXT General Manager Ava spoke with Gigi Dolin about Arianna Grace rejecting the offer for a match for next week before Arianna Grace came to the ring and said that she did not see the point of fighting which Dolin found bogus because she was in wrestling. Grace said that she would accept only if Grace was allowed to show Dolin her inner beauty which Dolin accepted.

Drew Gulak says the world saw that Charlie Dempsey is one of the most unique grapplers in professional wrestling last week. Dempsey says it’s an honor to hold the Heritage Cup and says it aligns with his vision of the pure art of professional wrestling. He says that the Heritage Cup is not just his and hands it over to Gulak. Damon Kemp says while Dempsey holds the Heritage Cup the rest of No Quarter Catch Crew are also champions. He says the No Quarter Catch Crew clause allows for any of them to defend the Heritage Cup and Gulak then announces that they are entering the NXT Tag Team Titles #1 Contenders Tournament made official earlier together by Ava and says they will win the NXT Tag Team Titles at Stand & Deliver.

William Regal’s music hits and he makes his way down to the ring. He says it’s delightful to see fans again and says the Heritage Cup means the world to him as it stands outstanding competitors from the British and European scene. He says every time the Heritage Cup is contested it’s a tribute to all the British and Europeans who came before him. He tells them that he hopes that Dempsey defends the Heritage Cup with the honor and integrity it deserves. Dempsey tells Regal that he’ll defend the Heritage Cup better than he ever could and Regal tells him that he’ll be watching.

We then head backstage and see Lash Legend check on Noam Dar. Dar expresses her excitement to see her & Oro Mensah joins them. Dar says it’s time for them to move onto bigger and better things as they celebrate.

After the break we head backstage and see Von Wagner offer to Mr Stone to continue to fight Lexis King on his behalf. Stone tells Wagner that he needs to fight King on his own and Wagner agrees.

NXT Title #1 Contenders Match
Tony D’Angelo vs. Carmelo Hayes

Carmelo Hayes wastes no time as he fires off strikes on Tony D’Angelo then lands an enzuigiri on him.

D’Angelo responds with a pair of shoulder tackles and a back body drop then whips Hayes into the corner and fires off shoulders on his midsection.

He whips him into the opposite corner and does the same then plants him with a gutwrench suplex.

Hayes responds with a kick to D’Angelo’s midsection then fires off strikes on him and looks to fire off right hands on his midsection.

D’Angelo catches one and fires off right hands on Hayes’ midsection then connects with a suplex and dumps Hayes onto the apron then looks to send him crashing onto the floor.

Hayes’ security guards catch him as we go to a break.

After the break Hayes wears D’Angelo’s tricep down with a submission hold.

D’Angelo sends Hayes crashing into the corner to escape and hits a pair of belly 2 belly suplexes then hits a spinebuster before landing a right hand.

Hayes responds with a pair of boots but D’Angelo gets Hayes up on one shoulder.

Hayes escapes and hits a variation of a cutter then lands a jawbreaker using the top rope and follows it up with a Codebreaker.

He fires off right hands on D’Angelo and ascends to the top rope.

Trick Williams’ music hits and security turns around waiting for him up the ramp.

D’Angelo takes advantage and D’Angelo plants him then follows it up with Forget About It for the win.

Winner & #1 Contender To The NXT Title: Tony D’Angelo (10:34)

After the match D’Angelo grabs a mic and apologizes for playing Williams’ music during the match. He says since he’s a giving Don he got Hayes a present.

Williams music plays for a 2nd time and security looks up the ramp waiting for Hayes. Williams sneaks up on Hayes and blindsides him then hits Hayes’ security as they get in the ring 1 by 1. Hayes slides out of the ring and security protects him on the ramp. Williams stands tall in the ring and celebrates with the NXT Universe to close out this week’s NXT.
