Kurt Angle Looks Back At Storyline-Driven Promo Segments During WWE Attitude Era

The Attitude Era was a promo-heavy era.

Kurt Angle remembers it well.

The WWE Hall of Fame legend reflected on the WWE Attitude Era being a storyline promo-driven era during the latest installment of his official podcast, “The Kurt Angle Show.”

“We did quite a bit of them during the Attitude Era [promo segments]. I mean, the Attitude Era was a storyline promo city,” he said. “Okay. It wasnโ€™t even wrestling. It got to the point that there was so little wrestling that none of the wrestlers tied up when they started the match. Theyโ€™d start with action, punch, punch, punch, shoot, reverse off the ropes.”

Angle continued, “It was all high action because they didnโ€™t have time to tell a story at the beginning of the match. Because they did so much. They spent so much time on promos and pre-tapes that they didnโ€™t have a lot of time for wrestling. They made sure they gave the fans their moneyโ€™s worth [pay-per-view event matches].”
