AEW DYNAMITE RESULTS – APRIL 9, 2025

This week’s show kicks off with Excalibur welcoming us inside the arena in Baltimore, MD. He then quickly sends us to a backstage promo featuring AEW World Champion Jon Moxley and The Death Riders.

Jon Moxley vs. Katsuyori Shibata

Mox talks about his title defense against Swerve Strickland at AEW Dynasty 2025. He also brings up the return of The Young Bucks duo of Nicholas and Matthew Jackson. He tells them to be careful before with the decisions they make now that they’re back.

Inside the building, the theme for Mox plays and out comes The Death Riders leader accompanied by Marina Shafir. He settles inside the squared circle for his advertised non-title tilt against The Opps’ own Katsuyori Shibata.

The Japanese star makes his way out next and the bell sounds to get things officially off-and-running. Mox slaps a side headlock on Shibata. Shibata struggles but ends up getting Mox down and controlling him with a head-scissors. They work their way back up and lock up again.

Mox takes Shibata down, but Shibata hits a switch and takes top position over the AEW champ. Shibata with a big slap across the chest and Moxley with a chop to the chest of his own and both men exchange chops. Moxley to the ropes and he lands two boots to the face but Shibata with a heel trip followed by a chin lock.

He gets Moxley into an octopus hold but lets Moxley out of it and gets Moxley in the corner. He goes for a right hand but Moxley with a clothesline. He goes for the cover but Shibata kicks out.

The Young Bucks Call Out Jon Moxley, Get Kenny Omega Instead

Out come Matthew and Nicholas Jackson to the ring after the match. They are face to face with Marina but Moxley waves her away and they both leave the ring to the fans booing. The Young Bucks begin by telling the fans to congratulate Jon Moxley and to show love to the AEW Founding Fathers, the EVP’s. The fans boo and they tell them to “shut the f up”.

They say that they have a few reasons as to why they did what they did to Swerve. The first is that they did it for their good friend, Hangman Adam Page. They talk about how Page never wanted Swerve to be world champion and they love him.

The fans chant “Who’s house, Swerve’s house”. The EVP’s say that what they did was a peace offering to Moxley. They have no problem with him and hope that he has no problem with them. And while they were away, they realized they have things in common with him.

They want the guys in the back to step up, just like them. They want to change the world, just like them. And they are impressed because Moxley did what they couldn’t do. He succeeded in taking over AEW and even has the World title, they couldn’t do that. They talk about The Death Riders working with The Elite.

Jon Moxley, the World champion and the AEW founding fathers together. They ask Moxley to come back out with his boys to discuss business. Instead of Mox, however, the familiar sounds of Kenny Omega’s theme hits the house speakers. Out comes “The Cleaner.”

He talks about knowing The Bucks and mentions how maybe he’ll just come in the ring and kick their asses. As he goes to do exactly that, he is stopped when the familiar sounds of Kazuchika Okada’s entrance tune hits. Out comes “The Rainmaker,” but before he can do anything, Swerve Strickland’s music plays.

Swerve Strickland vs. PAC

Swerve hits the ring from behind and runs off the Bucks and Okada. He glares at them with a weapon in-hand as the commentators remind everyone that the Bucks cost Swerve his AEW World Championship match against champion Jon Moxley this past Sunday night in the main event of AEW Dynasty 2025.

Prince Nana leads fans in a loud “Who’s house?” / “Swerve’s House!” chant. Swerve and Omega lock eyes and Omega heads off to the back, leaving the ring to Strickland. He gets on the mic. Swerve pronounces tonight the start of Buck-hunting season. He’s ready to blast the EVPs.

As he continues talking, he is attacked from behind by “The Bastard” PAC. A referee runs in behind him. As order is restored, the show heads to a commercial break, with the scheduled Swerve vs. PAC match waiting on the other side when we return.

When the show returns, the match is ongoing in progress. Swerve takes over after the strong ambush-start from PAC. PAC ends up injuring his leg. He is on the floor outside of the ring being checked on by the doctor for several moments as Swerve paces back-and-forth in the ring. Eventually, PAC gets in the ring and eats a kick and Swerve Stomp from Strickland for the quick finish.

Winner: Swerve Strickland

Hangman Page, Prince Nana Have Words

Backstage, Renee Paquette is with “Hangman” Adam Page. He tells her he doesn’t know who he is facing but he has to do something. He enters Swerve’s locker room and asks Prince Nana where Swerve is at. He says at AEW Dynasty, he was not trying to help Swerve.

He says next week, if Swerve thinks of getting in the ring, he will pick up with him where he left off. Nana tells him that there is something he has been wanting to tell him for the last year.

He says Swerve knows nothing of this, and begins to mention feeling regret over something, only for Page to abruptly cut him off. He tells him not to say another word and walks off in a huff.

$400,000 Eight Man Tag-Team Match
‘Speedball’ Mike Bailey, Will Ospreay, Kevin Knight & Mark Briscoe vs. Ricochet, The Beast Mortos, Action Andretti & Lio Rush

Backstage, Ricochet is with his teammates The Beast Mortos, Action Andretti and Lio Rush. He declares himself the captain of the team ahead of their eight-man $400,000 match, which is coming up next.

We then shoot to the opposing team of Mark Briscoe, Kevin Knight, Will Ospreay and “Speedball” Mike Bailey, who talk about what they’re going to spend their $100,000 each on if they win. We then head into another commercial break.

As the show returns, we learn that Jamie Hayter vs. Billie Starkz and Harley Cameron vs. Athena will take place in a pair of Owen Hart Cup women’s tournament matches on this week’s episode of AEW Collision.

The winner of the Cameron-Athena bout will advance to face Mercedes Mone in the next round of the Owen Hart Cup in a tourney tilt on the AEW Dynamite: Spring Break-Thru special themed event next week.

Back live, the two four-man teams make their way to the ring. The bell sounds and it is Bailey and Ricochet who kick things off for their respective teams. Ricochet circles but then quickly rushes over and tags in The Beast Mortos and rolls out to the floor.

After some back-and-forth action, we see all four members ganging up on an isolated Ricochet, who is by himself at ringside and freaked out upon seeing them. As they strike, the show heads into a mid-match commercial break as the action continues.

When the show returns, we see Bailey is in the ring with The Beast Mortos. Kicks by Bailey but Mortos gets to his feet and he slams Bailey chest first onto his knees. Both men are down and Ricochet is tagged in. Ricochet with a double stomp but in comes Briscoe and he takes Ricochet down.

Some more back-and-forth action leads to Knight hitting a modified frog splash off the top rope. He goes for the cover but Rush and Andretti break it up. Ospreay is tagged in and he hits Mortos with the Hidden Blade for the victory.

Winners: ‘Speedball’ Mike Bailey, Will Ospreay, Kevin Knight & Mark Briscoe

The Hurt Syndicate Turn Down MJF

Inside the arena, the best theme in the business today hits, and out comes The Hurt Syndicate trio of Bobby Lashley, Shelton Benjamin and MVP. An “MVP” chant from the crowd. MVP begins to speak and says this is an official announcement from The Hurt Syndicate.

He tells everyone that two more challengers got beat down. MVP begins passing out bottles and glasses with a table setup in the ring. They toast to another successful Championship defense. MJF’s music hits and he gets in the ring. He stands next to Shelton and smiles.

Lashley does not look amused. MJF tells them that “they hurt people” and how they are dripped in gold. He says this could not have come at a better time because Tony Khan wanted him to take part in the Owen Hart tournament and for him to sweat.

But he works smarter, not harder and now that he is rolling with the syndicate, he gets to take back what is his and that is the Triple B. He says this is a perfect business relationship. He scratches their backs and they get to help him. He asks MVP how the imitation works and Lashley tells him to shut up.

Everyone saw what MJF did and MFJ tried to help them but he didn’t get the job done. He tells him that is another reason why they don’t need him. MJF tells him not to point at him and both men begin to argue. Shelton and MVP get in the way to break it up.

MVP tells MJF that they go way back but in order for MJF to join the syndicate, he has to get three thumbs up. MVP puts his thumb up and Shelton puts his sideways and turns it down. Shelton and Lashley hug and leave the ring. MVP looks at MJF, shrugs and leaves the ring. MJF is unhappy as the Syndicate leaves.

Owen Hart Cup
Thunder Rosa vs. Kris Statlander

Inside the arena, the theme for “Timeless” Toni Storm hits and out comes the AEW Women’s World Champion to join Excalibur, Tony Schiavone and Taz on special guest commentary for the next match of the evening. Out comes the competitors, Thunder Rosa and Kris Statlander, for their first-ever one-on-one showdown.

The bell sounds and this first round match in the 2025 Owen Hart Cup women’s tournament is officially off-and-running. Kris with a shoulder tackle but Rosa gets back up. Rosa with an arm drag take down. Both women back up and Kris with an arm drag followed by a drop kick.

She throws Kris back into the ring and goes for the cover but Kris kicks out. She grabs Kris but Kris with a kick followed by a DDT. As all of this is going on, Storm is fully in-character on commentary, and with her wild personality, has Excalibur, Taz and Schiavone all giggling like women.

On that note, the show heads into a mid-match commercial break. When the show returns, Storm still has the regular commentary trio in a full-blown case of the giggle-fits. In the ring, however, the Stater-day Night Fever earns Statlander the win.

Storm stands up and looks on at Statlander as she celebrates. Statlander will face the winner of Jamie Hayter vs. Billie Starkz from this week’s episode of AEW Collision. The winner of Harley Cameron vs. Athena will face Mercedes Mone in the next round on the other side of the bracket.

Winner and ADVANCING: Kris Statlander

Don Callis Family Is Now Accepting New Members

Backstage, Don Callis is standing by with Kyle Fletcher and Konosuke Takeshita. He talks about Brody King getting one by them with a win over Lance Archer in the Owen Hart Cup men’s tournament. He says that shan’t happen again.

He then goes on to announce that The Don Callis Family is accepting new members. He tells anyone interested to send in their applications and bank information. The brief backstage segment wraps up on that note.

TV Time With ‘The Learning Tree’ Chris Jericho

After a quick backstage promo from new TNT Champion Adam Cole and his fellow Undisputed Kingdom members Kyle O’Reilly and Roderick Strong. He vows big things are coming for all three of them now that Cole is the new face of TNT.

Inside the arena, we hear the familiar sounds of Chris Jericho’s theme music. Out comes “The Learning Tree” for his advertised installment of his “TV Time” in-ring talk show segment. He points out the obvious, which is that he no longer holds the ROH World Championship.

Big Bill and Bryan Keith are called out by Jericho. Bill tells Jericho he joined The Learning Tree to learn from Jericho. He says he didn’t join to be blamed by Jericho every time something goes wrong. He says if he’s got advice, he wants to hear it, but if he’s out here to blame them, he doesn’t want to hear it. He says Keith doesn’t either.

Jericho goes on to talk about how he lost the ROH World Championship at AEW Dynasty 2025 this past Sunday, and Bill and Keith weren’t there. He says some could say he lost the title because of them. He goes on to say he’s not mad, he’s just disappointed.

He repeats “I’m disappointed” as he goes on a rage, smashing his TV Time set with Floyd the baseball bat. He even lets out an F-bomb as he yells “I’m dis-a-f**kin’-pointed!” The commentators apologize for his language. He storms off by himself.

MJF Asks MVP Why He’s Being Treated Like A B*tch

Backstage, we see The Hurt Syndicate being interviewed, when in walks MJF. He tells the interviewer to take a hike. He asks MVP if he looks like a female dog. MVP asks him what his point is. MJF says he keeps being treated like a b*tch but he is MJF.

MVP tells him that’s the problem, they know who he is. And this is business and in business, you find your consumer, you find out what they want and you give it to them. He suggests MJF try that if he wants different results.

Samoa Joe & HOOK vs. Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta

It’s main event time!

But first, we shoot to the parking lot, where we see Chris Jericho walking by himself with Floyd the baseball bat still in his hands. He stops and smashes some stuff laying on a production crate before hopping into his ride and angrily driving off into the night.

Back inside the arena, the commentators switch focus to our scheduled main event, which is a tag-team tilt pitting The Opps duo of Samoa Joe and HOOK against The Death Riders team of Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta. After each team makes their respective entrances, the bell sounds and off we go.

Yuta and Joe kick things off for their respective teams coming out of the gate. Yuta rolls to the outside of the ring, gets back in and tags Claudio into the match. Claudio with an uppercut but Joe with a chop to the chest followed by jabs. He throws Claudio into the corner and HOOK is tagged in.

Right hands by HOOK but a head lock by Claudio followed by a power slam. Yuta is tagged back in and goes for a cross body off the top rope but HOOK moves out of the way. He lands three German suplexes onto Yuta and Joe is tagged in. Joe with jabs and a chop. Joe with a running elbow and HOOK is tagged back in.

Right hands by HOOK and Yuta is thrown onto the ring apron. Yuta to the outside and he grabs HOOK by the legs but HOOK kicks him away. On that note, the show heads into the final mid-match commercial break of the evening. When the show returns, we see The Death Riders take over.

Yuta rakes the eyes to keep his offensive lead. AEW World Champion and fellow member of The Death Riders, Jon Moxley, is standing guard at ringside with a steel chair in-hand. Out of nowhere, Katsuyori Shibata of The Opps attacks him from behind and chokes him out. As he does, HOOK chokes out Yuta in the ring for the win.

Once the match wraps up, the camera keeps cutting back to show Mox being choked still by Shibata. Marina Shafir hits the ring with a steel chair and leads Castagnoli and Yuta in a post-match attack on HOOK. They hit a spiked piledriver to HOOK on a chair. Joe eventually hits the ring with a chair of his own to run them off.

Joe glares at The Death Riders as they flee through the crowd. Joe gets on the microphone. He calls The Death Riders a bunch of b*tches. He says The Opps came to fight and takes another shot at The Death Riders that has to be bleeped off the air due to vulgar language.

Joe issues a challenge from The Opps to The Death Riders, and makes it clear that they’ve got their sights set on the AEW Trios Championships. Fans chant “Joe! Joe! Joe!” as he helps HOOK back up. Joe, HOOK and Shibata stand tall in the ring as Excalibur does a speed-read through the lineup for Saturday’s AEW Collision. That’s how this week’s show goes off the air. Thanks for joining us!

Winners: Samoa Joe & HOOK
