Dustin Rhodes has officially closed the door on his legendary Goldust persona.

The AEW veteran, who dropped the iconic character when he joined All Elite Wrestling in 2019 to face his brother Cody Rhodes in a critically acclaimed bout at Double or Nothing, recently addressed fan speculation about a potential return of the gimmick.

A fan took to social media with a tongue-in-cheek idea for a new faction featuring Goldust, Stardust (Cody’s former WWE alter ego), and AAA star Mr. Iguana. Rhodes, however, shut the idea down in respectful but clear terms.

“Sorry, but Goldust is officially retired,” Rhodes wrote, ending any lingering hopes of the character returning to TV.

Since transitioning to “The Natural” in AEW, Dustin has enjoyed a late-career renaissance, serving not only as a seasoned in-ring competitor but also as a valuable backstage coach and mentor. He has been instrumental in developing AEW’s younger talent while still delivering solid performances when called upon.

Goldust debuted in WWE in 1995 and became one of the most unique and controversial characters of the Attitude Era. The character evolved over the years, earning Rhodes multiple Intercontinental Championship reigns and a reputation as a boundary-pushing performer.

With this latest confirmation, fans can now officially mark the end of an era for one of wrestling’s most iconic personas.
