Former WWE NXT star Elayna Black, previously known as Cora Jade, has broken her silence on the events leading to her WWE release this past May. In a revealing interview on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Black shared that she had a strong instinct her time with the company was nearing its end—and a strange meeting with a WWE executive days before being let go only deepened the confusion.
“I was a little bit surprised,” Black admitted. “Because two days prior to my release, I had a meeting with said person, and I gave so many ideas. I had set aside my personal feelings, was very professional, and it felt like a great conversation.”
Black explained that the executive appeared fully engaged, even opening a laptop and typing notes during the meeting. But just 48 hours later, she was released.
“He’s pulling out his laptop, typing all these ideas—basically gaslighting me—and then two days later I get fired,” she said. “Why even do that? Why have me give you all these ideas? You asked me to come in for this meeting… and then two days later, you can’t even respond to a text.”
The former NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion also shared that she had reached out to Mandy Rose beforehand, sensing the writing was on the wall.
“I texted Mandy and said, ‘Hey, I think I’m getting fired,’” she revealed.
Black’s run as Cora Jade included notable feuds, a dark heel turn, and a strong presence in the women’s division. Since her release, she has teased a potential return to the independent scene under her original ring name and has not ruled out exploring other wrestling promotions.
