According to WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, sources have indicated that WWE plans to focus—or refocus—on some of its tag teams in the division moving forward.
On the SmackDown side, MFT (Tama Tonga and Talla Tonga) recently captured the WWE Tag Team Championships during last week’s show. The report also noted that, in addition to the return of Shinsuke Nakamura and the arrival of Hiromu Takahashi (as teased last week), Fraxiom is set to receive increased TV time. The duo of Axiom and Nathan Frazer has been a staple of the SmackDown tag team division, although they have yet to hold the brand’s tag titles.
Meanwhile, the World Tag Team Championships are currently held by The Vision (Bron Breakker and Austin Theory) on WWE RAW. According to a source, there has been an “internal debate” about finding challengers for them. The Street Profits have been off TV due to Montez Ford and Bianca Belair welcoming their son, and Los Americanos are being kept off TV until at least after TripleMania.
There has also been discussion about elevating the alliance between Ethan Page and Rusev, but some in the company are concerned they could “getting lost” in the tag team division. The Creed Brothers have returned to TV on WWE Main Event, but they reportedly have not been mentioned internally as potential challengers for the titles.
