
According to Deadline.com, WWE legend and 17-time World Champion John Cena has secured a role in the upcoming comedy film “The Family Disappears.” The movie is being produced by Fifth Season and will be directed by Jonatan Eetzler. The report states that Cena will star alongside Emmy Award-winning actor David Harbour.
The new film features an original script by writer Brendan O’Hare and includes thriller elements. The story centers on an overworked father who returns from a trip to find his family has vanished, and a mysterious newcomer has moved into their home. Nick Weidenfeld is producing the feature alongside Alexis Garcia through CAT5. They previously collaborated on the comedy “Friendship,” which starred Tim Robinson and Paul Rudd, for Fifth Season and A24.
Production for the film is set to begin on November 10 in Atlanta, Georgia. In the meantime, “Matchbox: The Movie,” also starring John Cena, will premiere on Apple TV+ on October 9.
