According to Deadline.com, AEW star and pro wrestling legend Chris Jericho will portray the legendary Gorgeous George in the Prime Video series “The Greatest,” which focuses on Muhammad Ali and is created by Ben Watkin.
The limited series has already been filmed and is set to be released on November 4th, with all episodes available to stream simultaneously. Jericho will appear in the fourth of eight episodes. He joins a cast that includes Jaalen Best as Ali, Omari Hardwick as Cassius Clay Sr., Dana Gourrier as Odessa “Bird” Clay, Kai Parham as Rudy Clay, Amin Joseph as Sonny Liston, Giovanni Ribisi as Angelo Dundee, and Michael Ealy as Malcolm X.
Gorgeous George, whose real name is George Raymond Wagner, was one of the most popular wrestlers of the 1940s and 1950s. Known for his flamboyant style and heel tactics, he held titles across various wrestling territories and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2010.
Prime Video ordered “The Greatest” back in July 2014, and it is described as follows:
“The Greatest features defining moments in Ali’s life and career, both in and out of the ring, that have been well documented, and moments that took place outside the spotlight. The world remembers an icon, but The Greatest is about a man, a husband, a father, a brother, and a son.”
