WWE Hall of Famer and AEW commentator Jim Ross is back home and recovering following an overnight hospital stay related to a chest infection and low oxygen levels.
Conrad Thompson provided the latest update on Ross’ condition during the October 22, 2026, edition of the Grilling JR podcast, confirming that the legendary wrestling announcer had been discharged from the hospital.
The hospitalization came less than a week after Ross underwent his second brain surgery, adding another setback to his ongoing recovery.
Opening the podcast, Thompson explained that Ross had been dealing with an infection in his chest, which prompted medical attention after his oxygen levels were found to be low.
“He’s got some sort of infection in his chest. They said that his oxygen was low, so he spent the night in the hospital. But I’m happy to report that he is home and on the mend.”
Although Ross has returned home, Thompson emphasized that the veteran broadcaster is still recovering and has not yet been confirmed to return to his regular podcast duties.
Thompson expressed hope that Ross would be feeling well enough to resume hosting Grilling JR next week.
“He’s just under the weather right now. And as our pal Jim would say, ‘Hey man, if it wasn’t for bad luck, I’d have no luck at all.’ But we’re hoping, knock on wood, that good old JR will be back here next week.”
The latest health scare follows a challenging period for Ross, who has recently been recovering from surgery while dealing with additional medical complications.
Despite the setback, Thompson’s update offered encouraging news, particularly his confirmation that Ross is no longer hospitalized.
With Ross unavailable for the October 22 episode, Grilling JR continued with an older discussion covering Starrcade 1991 following Thompson’s opening remarks.
There is currently no confirmed timetable for Ross’ return to the podcast, although Thompson remains hopeful that he will be back next week.
PWMania.com wishes Jim Ross a continued and successful recovery.
