The main event of Thursday’s episode of iMPACT on AMC featured the syX Slaughterhouse Match between syX and The Hardys. The match concluded with Samuel Shaw and Joseph Sawyer placing a trash can over Jeff Hardy and smashing it from either side with pipes.
According to Fightful Select, the injury angle was partially intended to write Jeff off TV, as the company is heading to Canada for their next tapings. Jeff faces challenges entering Canada due to past legal issues related to substance abuse, which has previously led TNA to write him off to manage his absence over the next few weeks of programming.
Additionally, Matt Hardy mentioned on The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy last week that Jeff is likely to take some time off to address a lingering neck injury that has been troubling him since last October. A source within TNA indicated that this situation created a “perfect storm” for writing Jeff off, allowing the company to avoid concerns about his entry into Canada while giving him time to recover.
While TNA can film content for him in the U.S. to include in iMPACT, Jeff will not participate in the shows in Canada. Sources anticipate that he will return for the December tapings scheduled in Houston, Texas. In the meantime, both Jeff and Matt will appear on the Chris Jericho Rock N’ Wrestling Rager at Sea, with Jeff also set to participate in WrestleCade.
