As PWMania.com previously reported, The Beast Mortos made a high-profile appearance at AEW Grand Slam: Mexico, thanks to AEW President Tony Khan, who personally requested CMLL lift its ban on the wrestler. This move marks a continued shift in CMLLโs previously strict policy against working with talents who had appeared for rival promotion AAA.
In a follow-up from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, itโs revealed that La Facciรณn Ingobernableโs RUSH and Dralistico have also sought Tony Khanโs help to repair their standing with CMLL. Both wrestlers were previously banned by the company due to controversial exits. RUSH left CMLL in 2019 to participate in ROH Death Before Dishonor, bypassing CMLLโs 86th Anniversary Show, while Dralistico (formerly portraying Mistico) departed in 2021 to join AAA.
CMLL stated at the time that RUSH and Dragon Lee were fired, rather than admitting the wrestlers chose to leave.
The Observer notes that Dralistico exited on more amicable terms and has continued to respect CMLLโs boundaries. He has expressed interest in working for AEW in Arena Mexico and is reportedly keen to pursue a feud with Mistico. Despite these efforts, CMLL has shown no interest in lifting the ban, particularly in RUSHโs case. The company reportedly blames RUSH for encouraging other promotions to poach their talent by offering higher pay and better conditions.
As of now, it appears that while Mortos was able to break through the wall, RUSH and Dralistico’s return to CMLL remains unlikelyโat least without significant changes in the current landscape of Mexican wrestling politics.
