AEW Fright Night Dynamite
AEW Fright Night Dynamite

AEW Fright Night Dynamite aired live from St. Louis, Missouri, on TBS and HBO Max. The Halloween-themed show featured two championship matches, the third encounter in FTR and the Motor City Machine Guns’ best-of-five series, several major Full Gear developments and an emotional title change in the main event.

Jon Moxley and Daniel Garcia vs. Jay White and David Finlay

Jay White initially prepared to start against Jon Moxley but immediately tagged David Finlay into the match. Moxley dropped Finlay with a shoulder tackle and brought Daniel Garcia in for some tandem offense. Finlay eventually caught Garcia with a kick and tagged White, who was met by chops and a dragon screw leg whip that sent him outside.

The Cut gained control after Finlay became involved and White attacked Moxley from behind. White targeted Moxley’s left leg and midsection before Garcia received the tag and fought both opponents. Garcia trapped White in the Dragon Tamer, but Finlay pulled his partner out of the ring to break the hold.

Garcia was isolated after the commercial break until he created separation with a neckbreaker. Moxley entered with rapid punches, bit Finlay’s forehead and delivered a lariat and piledriver. He also sent White into the steel steps, but Finlay recovered with a backbreaker and returned the tag to his partner.

Moxley countered the Blade Runner and brought Garcia back into the match. The Death Riders worked over White before Moxley landed a cutter for a two-count. Ace Austin appeared on the apron, prompting Wheeler Yuta to rush down and attack him. With the referee distracted, Clark Connors entered and speared Garcia. White capitalized with the Blade Runner to secure the victory.

Winners: Jay White and David Finlay via Pinfall

Jon Moxley Challenges The Cut to Anarchy in the Arena

Gabe Kidd arrived after the match as The Cut continued attacking Moxley, Garcia and Yuta. Claudio Castagnoli ran down to even the numbers and caught Connors in the Giant Swing. The Death Riders eventually armed themselves with steel chairs and cleared the ring.

Moxley declared that the fight was only beginning before turning his attention to Full Gear on November 14. He formally challenged The Cut to an Anarchy in the Arena match, drawing loud chants of “Anarchy” from the St. Louis crowd. The Death Riders then performed push-ups together in the ring.

Women’s Blood & Guts Challenge

Footage aired from Collision showing Willow Nightingale, Harley Cameron and Kris Statlander issuing a challenge for the upcoming women’s Blood & Guts match.

Kyle Fletcher vs. Jack Perry

Don Callis joined commentary as Fletcher and Perry traded early takedowns. Perry escaped a bodyslam and sent Fletcher outside with a dropkick. Fletcher blocked a baseball slide into a cazadora bulldog and attempted a Snap Dragon, but Perry escaped beneath the ring and surprised him with a shotgun dropkick.

Perry draped Fletcher across the barricade and walked along it before connecting with another dropkick. Fletcher eventually caught Perry with a flying boot as he attempted to re-enter the ring and followed with a PK to gain control. During the break, Perry spat at Callis while Fletcher continued dominating the match.

Perry mounted a comeback with a lariat and two dives, but his third attempt ended with a hard landing when Fletcher failed to catch him cleanly. Fletcher responded by powerbombing Perry onto the edge of the apron. Perry recovered and countered a brainbuster with a hurricanrana from the ropes before landing an Orihara moonsault and another moonsault inside the ring for a two-count.

Fletcher answered with a Snap Dragon, flying corner boot and sheer-drop brainbuster, but Perry kicked out. Perry later bit his way out of a turnbuckle brainbuster and delivered a sunset bomb. He also countered a Lawn Dart with a Poison Rana before applying the Snare Trap, only for Fletcher to reach the ropes.

Perry eventually landed a snap hurricanrana from the second rope, but Fletcher caught him with a superkick as he came off the top turnbuckle. Fletcher followed with the Lawn Dart, a running corner boot and a middle-rope brainbuster to win the match.

Winner: Kyle Fletcher via Pinfall

Kyle Fletcher Challenges Will Ospreay at Full Gear

Mark Davis and Jake Doyle carried Fletcher on their shoulders following the match. Fletcher boasted about dismantling one of AEW’s pillars and claimed he had also gotten the better of Adam Copeland and AEW World Champion Will Ospreay the previous week.

Fletcher predicted that Davis and Doyle would become AEW World Tag Team Champions at Full Gear. He then reminded Ospreay that he had defeated him at Full Gear before and officially challenged him to another match at the November 14 pay-per-view.

Calling himself the uncrowned AEW World Champion, Fletcher declared that nobody in professional wrestling could touch him and promised to prove it at Full Gear.

Swerve Strickland Sends a Message to The New Level

After a Blood & Guts video package narrated by Dean Malenko, Renee Paquette welcomed The New Level to the ring. Austin Creed questioned why anyone would agree to Swerve Strickland’s proposed Texas Death Match for the AEW World Trios Championship at Full Gear.

Kofi Kingston said he wanted to return to his family after work rather than enter a match in which someone effectively had to die to lose. The New Level argued that they had only been in AEW for seven or eight weeks and had not developed enough hatred toward Hangman Page and Brodido to justify such a violent stipulation. Kingston admitted that they liked Bandido, Brody King and even Page, although they wanted to regain the titles.

Brody King entered, followed by Hangman Page, who warned him about the physical and emotional consequences of a Texas Death Match. Page recalled his own encounter with Strickland and said The New Level did not understand what Swerve was capable of. He also revealed that neither he nor King knew where Strickland or Bandido were.

Prince Nana appeared on the stage and directed everyone’s attention to the screen. A video showed Strickland holding Bandido’s mask while approaching a badly bloodied Bandido. Swerve insisted that a standard match was not enough and demanded the Texas Death Match before placing the mask back on Bandido and walking away.

An enraged King turned toward Creed and Kingston, but Page stepped between them and stressed that The New Level had nothing to do with the attack. Page and King then left to search for Bandido while Creed and Kingston remained in the ring.

Don Callis Family Prepares for Full Gear

Don Callis appeared backstage alongside Kevin Knight, Kyle Fletcher, Josh Alexander, Kazuchika Okada, Mark Davis and Jake Doyle. Callis promoted the family’s Full Gear matches and suggested that Steven Borden would be better off joining the group.

Alexander then addressed Darby Allin ahead of their TNT Championship match later in the show. Commentary subsequently confirmed that Tony Khan had made Will Ospreay’s AEW World Championship defence against Fletcher official for Full Gear.

Best-of-Five Series, Match Three
Motor City Machine Guns (1) vs. FTR (1)

Stokely Hathaway accompanied FTR while dressed as James Brown. Alex Shelley and Dax Harwood began with an exchange of holds before Chris Sabin entered and targeted Harwood’s arm and spine. The Motor City Machine Guns continued working over the left arms of both opponents with frequent tags and tandem offence.

FTR regrouped outside before Harwood trapped Shelley in the corner and attacked him with chops. Shelley responded with rapid strikes, while the Machine Guns used thrust kicks to send both members of FTR back to the floor.

Following the commercial break, Sabin took out both opponents with a dive and landed a crossbody on Harwood. Dax rolled through into a two-count before catching Shelley with a slingshot powerbomb. FTR then connected with Power and Glory on Sabin, but it only produced another near-fall.

The Machine Guns blocked the Shatter Machine and later used FTR’s own finishing move against Harwood, who somehow kicked out. Wheeler broke up another pinning attempt, but Shelley surprised the legal Harwood with a roll-up to give his team the series lead.

Winners: Motor City Machine Guns via Pinfall to lead the series 2–1

Shelley and Sabin offered their hands after the match, and FTR initially accepted the gesture. Hathaway then threw powder into the Machine Guns’ faces, allowing Harwood and Wheeler to attack Shelley’s knee before leaving both men down.

Persephone, Queen Aminata and Britt Baker

Lexy Nair conducted a no-physical-contact interview with TBS Champion Persephone, Queen Aminata and Britt Baker. Aminata promised to knock Persephone’s head off and take her championship, while Persephone predicted that her challenger would be left sad and pathetic.

Baker attended the interview dressed as Miss Trunchbull from Matilda as part of the Halloween festivities.

Ilja Dragunov Confronts Tommaso Ciampa

Tommaso Ciampa entered the ring and declared himself the next AEW National Champion. He claimed he should have won the title at WrestleDream and accused Andrade El Idolo of cheating while the referee was unable to see it.

Ciampa announced that he would face St. Louis native Matt Sydal on Collision and demanded another National Championship match. He also described himself as the greatest signing AEW had ever made.

Ilja Dragunov then made his entrance to a huge response. Dragunov challenged Ciampa’s claims and invited him to prove his superiority in an immediate match. Ciampa stepped into Dragunov’s face but ultimately refused, called him a jackass and left the ring.

The Conglomeration Issues a Challenge

Renee Paquette spoke with The Conglomeration about the attack they suffered at the hands of The Cut. Roderick Strong challenged any three members of the group to face them on Collision.

Commentary later confirmed that The Conglomeration would compete against The Gunns and Juice Robinson in a six-man tag-team match on Saturday.

Marina Shafir vs. Rachel Armstrong

Marina Shafir immediately attacked Rachel Armstrong in the corner and took her down with a succession of hip throws. She followed with a hard kick to the ribs before trapping both of Armstrong’s arms and planting her on the mat.

Shafir applied Mother’s Milk and forced Armstrong to submit almost immediately.

Winner: Marina Shafir via Submission

Mercedes Moné Confronts Marina Shafir as The Cut Attacks

Shafir called out AEW Women’s World Champion Mercedes Moné after the match. Moné entered and claimed she had more courage than the entire Death Riders faction combined before slapping Shafir across the face.

Shafir barely reacted and placed her hands behind her back, inviting another strike. Moné slapped her again, but Shafir remained unfazed.

At the commentary desk, Ace Austin, David Finlay and Clark Connors suddenly attacked Moxley. Gabe Kidd attempted to intervene but was struck from behind with a tire iron. Other members of The Death Riders joined the fight, while The Gunns added to the growing numbers on the opposing side.

Claudio Castagnoli charged into the fight carrying a trash can. He fought through The Gunns and Austin, shrugged off a chair shot from Juice Robinson and used a tire iron to send White from the ring. Finlay eventually struck Claudio with a shillelagh, allowing the group to overwhelm him and deliver another brutal blow to the back of his head. Robinson then mocked the fallen Castagnoli.

Moxley continued fighting, but the numbers became too much. The Cut removed the protective mats to expose the concrete floor and left both Moxley and Castagnoli incapacitated. Following the commercial break, Castagnoli was loaded onto a stretcher and taken away.

TNT Championship
Darby Allin (c) vs. Josh Alexander

Alexander immediately overwhelmed Allin with kicks before slamming him onto the apron and sending him to the floor with a running crossbody. He used consecutive dragon screws to drive the champion into the barricade and steel steps, then continued controlling the match inside the ring.

Allin briefly responded with a double-foot stomp, but Alexander caught him in an ankle lock on the apron and released the hold to German-suplex him onto the edge of the ring. Alexander also used the ring post to damage Allin’s right arm before grounding him again.

Allin knocked Alexander from the top turnbuckle before the commercial break. When the action resumed, Alexander caught an attempted Coffin Drop at ringside and delivered another German suplex. Allin recovered by trapping Alexander inside the ring skirt and repeatedly driving his head into the apron.

The champion removed Alexander’s headgear and applied the Scorpion Deathlock before delivering a dragon screw. Allin followed with a Coffin Drop onto Alexander on the apron, sending both men to the floor.

Allin positioned Alexander on a chair and climbed the turnbuckles, but Alexander moved and tripped him. The challenger then delivered a leaping tombstone piledriver onto two chairs. Allin somehow kicked out after being returned to the ring.

RPG Vice appeared at ringside, only for a mysterious clown to punch Trent Beretta. The clown unmasked as Steven Borden and took out RPG Vice. Inside the ring, Alexander applied the ankle lock, but Allin grabbed his leg and rolled him backwards into a pinning combination to retain the championship.

Winner: Darby Allin via Pinfall to retain the TNT Championship

Steven Borden helped the battered champion backstage while Don Callis and Alexander reacted angrily to the unexpected result.

Steven Borden and Darby Allin Want Blood & Guts

Backstage, Borden explained that he did not trust Don Callis and wanted to participate in Blood & Guts. He acknowledged everything Allin had endured in the stipulation and noted that two rings enclosed by a steel cage were familiar territory for the Borden family.

Borden declared that he trusted Allin far more than Callis. Allin then confirmed that he also wanted to compete in Blood & Guts.

TBS Championship
Persephone (c) vs. Queen Aminata

Aminata attempted three quick pinning combinations after an initial clean break, but Persephone escaped each one. The challenger tried to deliver the Chocolate Kisses, only for Persephone to avoid them and begin targeting her neck.

Aminata fought back and eventually connected with the Chocolate Kisses and a running boot. Britt Baker distracted her from ringside, allowing Persephone to regain control and repeatedly drive Aminata’s head into the turnbuckle. During the commercial break, Persephone instructed Baker to position a chair at ringside.

Aminata escaped a submission after the break and started her comeback with a headbutt, clotheslines and a twisting fisherman’s neckbreaker. A double stomp from the corner earned a close two-count, but Persephone responded with a spear and tore the protective tape from Aminata’s injured neck. The champion followed with a German suplex before Aminata raised her knees to block a Lionsault.

Aminata landed Off With Her Head, but Baker pulled Persephone from the ring before a cover could be made. The challenger continued attacking outside and seated Persephone on a chair before dropkicking her from the apron.

While referee Aubrey Edwards checked on Persephone, Baker struck Aminata with the TBS Championship. Persephone then landed a moonsault, but Aminata survived the interference and kicked out. Persephone attempted a Razor’s Edge, only for Aminata to escape and deliver another headbutt.

Aminata connected with Off With Her Head for a second time and pinned Persephone to capture the championship.

Winner: Queen Aminata via Pinfall to become the new TBS Champion

An emotional Aminata celebrated as pyrotechnics erupted and confetti fell throughout the arena. Mina Shirakawa, Kris Statlander, Harley Cameron, Hyan, Maya World, Willow Nightingale and Thunder Rosa joined the new champion in the ring and bowed before her as Fright Night Dynamite went off the air.
