Backstage News On Chris Jericho’s AEW Return Status

An update has been provided on the status of former AEW World Champion Chris Jericho, whose recent absence from AEW television has sparked questions from fans.

According to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Jericho’s touring commitments with his band Fozzy have officially wrapped up, and he is currently waiting on creative direction from AEW President Tony Khan for his return to television. While Jericho is now available for AEW programming, it’s a matter of when and how he will be brought back into the fold.

Fozzy has also announced a new set of tour dates in the United Kingdom for early next year, running from February 6 to February 21, 2026. Should Jericho be featured in a major storyline at that time, he may miss a couple of weeks of AEW TV to accommodate the tour.

Jericho’s last run saw him holding the ROH World Championship and further developing his “Learning Tree” persona before stepping away. As of this writing, Jericho has not publicly commented on his current hiatus from AEW.

With his schedule clear for now, fans could expect “The Ocho” to make his return as soon as the right storyline emerges.
