Backstage News On The Secrecy Surrounding The Ending Of WWE NXT Vengeance Day

The main event of Sunday’s WWE NXT Vengeance Day premium live event from the F&M Bank Arena in Clarksville, TN, featured WWE NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov vs. Trick Williams, but the show-closing angle captured the attention of fans.

Carmelo Hayes turned on Williams after the match by repeatedly hitting him with a chair. This came after they had worked a match earlier that night.

The show began with the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Finals, which pitted Hayes & Williams against Bron Breakker & Baron Corbin. The heels prevailed to win the competition, which was first launched in 2015. As PWMania.com previously reported, several stars were a little banged up following the match. According to Corey Brennan of Fightful Select, “there was a lot of secrecy surrounding the main event aftermath, as rehearsals for the main event were kept to those who were directly involved in putting it together.”

Dragunov was also reported to be fine following his unpleasant bump. The head coach of the Performance Center, Matt Bloom, and head of NXT creative, Shawn Michaels, were also reported to have given the main event high marks.
