WWE Monday Night Raw was opened by CM Punk, who appeared in a sling on his right arm, confirming the rumours that he had a triceps injury.

Punk stated that he is not upset with anyone and congratulated Cody Rhodes, expressing his hope that Cody will finish his story. Punk stated that he wanted to get his arm taped and go to Elimination Chamber, but now he wonders if he was ever meant to main event WrestleMania.

Punk told a story about a child who has cancer and is going through chemotherapy. Punk also mentioned being scared when he fought in the UFC, and he described this setback as a bump in the road because the true best people in the world are those fighting cancer and helping others.

Drew McIntyre walked out to the ring and stated that, while he believes Punk is a negative influence in the locker room, he can identify with him. McIntyre stated, “I prayed for this and it happened. When I got into that Rumble, I targeted you. I violently assaulted you. I could not let you win that thing…” McIntyre stated that he slept like a baby after learning of Punk’s injury, and that he will now find a way into the World Title match at WrestleMania in order to live Punk’s dream “again.” Punk stated that he will confront McIntyre once he has recovered. McIntyre knocked him out, and Sami Zayn ran out to make the save.
