Davey Boy Smith Jr. On If He Is Interested In Working With AEW

Pro wrestling veteran Davey Boy Smith Jr. spoke with Hannibal TV on a number of topics, including if he is interested in working with AEW.

Smith Jr. said, โ€œYeah, thatโ€™s a good question. A lot of people have asked stuff like that in the past. I certainly donโ€™t have any problem or issue with doing anything with AEW. Working with MLW, Iโ€™ve worked with a lot of New Japan talent that have been coming in. I got nothing bad to say about New Japan either. Iโ€™m very thankful for the work that they gave me. Time expired, and there was a lot of stuff, a lot of middlemen and things that got confused between myself and them. But they just didnโ€™t seem to want to really expand with me, and I was ready to move on, and time expired. But it is certainly a possibility. People have asked a lot of times about why I wasnโ€™t on the Wembley Stadium show or why Iโ€™m not in AEW, and a lot of it is, the last year or so, I was doing stuff with MLW against. I guess from AEWโ€™s perspective, which I totally understand, Iโ€™m not mad at all, if they bring me in for one show, I guess Iโ€™m gonna have to go over, and then itโ€™s just a one-shot deal. Obviously, they had enough people in attendance that they didnโ€™t necessarily need me as an addition, although I would have been a positive addition to the show. Then to MLWโ€™s respect, itโ€™s like okay, I go off and do this one big show for AEW, and if I did lose on it, itโ€™d be kind of what would MLW get positive out of it? Maybe some exposure, Iโ€™m not sure, but with all due respect to them, itโ€™s a little hard. Also, there hasnโ€™t been any reach out as far as if I were to do that, fans would want to see a continuation or some sort of a story after that, or further additions to an AEW, not just one-time match, but tag-teaming with Lance Archer for instance, but thatโ€™s people that they have under contract, so I would be up for it if it was a one-thing deal. But I think that maybe itโ€™s better that Iโ€™m over here in All Japan, and I think my life and quality of life and the way Iโ€™m progressing myself personally over here, I think thatโ€™s the best idea that I continue on with All Japan Pro Wrestling, and if AEW did have a tag team tournament, a yearly one, I could perhaps go there. Maybe when my All Japan deal is done, maybe I do go to AEW. Iโ€™m not sure. Iโ€™m not against that at all, in any way, shape, or form. Reuniting with Lance Archer, it certainly got over in the past, and maybe it would be a fresh breath of air for AEW if I came. But I would be up for it, but it just hasnโ€™t happened because I havenโ€™t been approached, it hasnโ€™t worked out.โ€
