El Phantasmo Provides Injury Update, Says He’s Not Expected To Undergo Surgery

NJPW World Television Champion El Phantasmo has been pulled from this weekend’s New Japan Pro-Wrestling events due to an injury to his right knee. He missed Friday’s show in Yamagata and will not appear at the upcoming event in Fukushima.

Phantasmo took to his Instagram Stories to clarify the nature of his injury, revealing that he has suffered an MCL tear. Fortunately, he confirmed that the injury will not require surgery and is being treated as day-to-day.

Phantasmo wrote:

“Got myself a lil MCL tear. Good news is no surgery and considering this day-to-day. Hate missing shows but best plan is to recover and not cause more damage before a huge summer of #G1CLIMAX and #ForbiddenDoor. I had a ball yanked outta my abdomen and I was wrestling 5 weeks later so don’t worry, I’ll see y’all soon.”

Phantasmo is currently in his second reign as NJPW World Television Champion, having held the title for 53 days since defeating Great-O-Khan at Wrestling Hizen no Kuni on April 29th.

With major events like AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door and the G1 Climax tournament fast approaching, fans are hopeful that ELP will be back in action soon.
