Former WWE Personality Criticizes Lyra Valkyria’s Promo Work On WWE RAW

On the July 7th, 2025 edition of WWE RAW, tensions escalated between Women’s Intercontinental Champion Becky Lynch, Bayley, and Lyra Valkyria ahead of their Triple Threat Match at WWE Evolution 2. The segment ended with Lyra getting the last word — and action — as she dropped both of her opponents with her signature move, the Nightwing.

While the physicality delivered, not everyone was impressed by the verbal side of the confrontation.

Former WWE personality Jonathan Coachman took to Twitter/X to critique Lyra Valkyria’s mic work during the segment. Coachman, who served as both an announcer and authority figure during his WWE tenure, didn’t hold back:

“I don’t believe a thing Lyra says on the mic. I am begging WWE to start working with some of these talents on delivering promos. It has to go both ways and Bayley and Becky are light years ahead of Lyra. There are levels on the mic and if you are going to be on RAW you have to be at the highest level.”

Becky Lynch and Bayley are both known for their elite promo skills, honed over years at the top of WWE’s women’s division. Lyra Valkyria, on the other hand, has only recently broken into the main event scene following a strong run in NXT. While her in-ring ability has been praised, her promo work has faced occasional criticism — something Coachman believes WWE should be addressing internally.

The Triple Threat at Evolution 2 promises to be one of the show’s most hard-fought contests, with three generations of women’s wrestling clashing over championship gold. Whether Lyra can rise to the challenge on the mic remains to be seen, but she’ll be aiming to let her actions speak louder than words when the bell rings.
