Wrestling historian and author Brian R. Solomon has officially confirmed that an audiobook version of his highly anticipated biography on WWE Hall of Famer Gorilla Monsoon is in the works.
During the latest episode of his Shut Up and Wrestle podcast, Solomon shared the exciting news with listeners, addressing one of the most frequently asked questions from fans about the upcoming project.
“I’ve got something very special to talk about, with regards to my upcoming book, Irresistible Force: The Life and Times of Gorilla Monsoon. I’m excited to say… there will indeed be an audio book,” Solomon said. “As I record this earlier today, I got the official word. I got the official offer. It is going to happen.”
While the print version of Irresistible Force is scheduled for a September 2025 release, Solomon mentioned that the audiobook release date is still to be determined. He also revealed that it’s unclear whether he will narrate the audio version himself, as he did with his previous project, Blood and Fire: The Unbelievable Real-Life Story of Wrestling’s Original Sheik.
“I’m also not sure if I’m going to have the opportunity to record this audio book myself… I hope to do that, but it doesn’t always work out that way in the world of audio books,” Solomon added.
The upcoming biography promises an in-depth look at the life and legacy of Gorilla Monsoon—one of wrestling’s most influential personalities, known for his roles as a top in-ring performer, beloved commentator, and backstage figure within WWE.
