New Japan Pro Wrestling has announced that pro wrestling legend Hiroshi Tanahashi will compete in his final match ever in the UK at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, scheduled for Sunday, August 24th, at the O2 Arena in London, England.
Tanahashi previously stated that he will retire following NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 20 on January 4th, 2026.
He made an appearance this past weekend at the AEW Double or Nothing pay-per-view during a Trios Match between Paragon (which included AEW TNT Champion Adam Cole, Roderick Strong, and Kyle O’Reilly) and the Don Callis Family. After a post-match attack gave the Don Callis Family a numbers advantage, Brody King and Tomohiro Ishii helped even the odds. Tanahashi then tipped the scales in their favor by delivering a Slingblade to Kyle Fletcher.
