Mercedes Mone Keeping Quiet On Her Return From Injury

In order to make an impact upon her return to the ring, Mercedes Mone is keeping the extent of her injury recovery a secret.

In the main event of NJPW Resurgence, the former WWE star was wrestling Willow Nightingale in a match to crown the first-ever NJPW Strong Women’s Champion when she was injured. As a result, changes were made because Mone was supposed to go over in the bout to become the first champion. When she slipped while going for code red off the top rope, she broke her ankle. Nightingale went over to win the title, only to lose it to Giulia recently.

It is believed she underwent surgery to treat the injury. As previously stated, there is no timetable for Mone’s return, but when she does, she will compete for the title with Giulia.

Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio mentioned Mone is keeping quiet about her status but was seen on crutches over the weekend.

“So she has been quiet about everything. She was at the Impact Wrestling Slammiversary pay-per-view….I know she still had crutches, and she had a walking boot on, so the presumption is that she had surgery, but she is still on crutches. We haven’t heard anything about a timetable. Obviously, the plan, when she’s ready, is to wrestle Giulia, who won the NJPW Strong Women’s Championship from Willow Nightingale.”

Meltzer went on to say that he doesn’t know a timeframe, and that people close to her don’t know either because she’s been so quiet about it.
