Wrestle Kingdom 18, New Japan Pro Wrestling’s biggest event of the year, kicks off the new year in January 2024. It is the NJPW equivalent of WWE WrestleMania. It does, however, appear during the negotiation process.
The promotion is currently in contract negotiations with its talent, including Kazuchika Okada, who has received a lot of interest from WWE.
Fightful Select reported that NJPW Strong Tag Team Champion El Phantasmo strongly hinted to them that his contract would expire on January 31 and that he was “certainly pointing” to not re-sign with them.
He told Sean Ross Sapp that he was entering a contract period, but it’s unclear where he’d end up or which promotions are interested in him.
Since 2019, AEW has been interested in him. What happened to his tag team partner Hikuleo, who was courted by WWE last year is uncertain.
